You don't need to use biodegradable bags in your food caddy. You can use any compostable liner or plastic bag, or even small amounts of kitchen roll or newspaper to line your caddy.

We also still have plenty of 5L kitchen caddies available to help make collecting food waste easier at home.

Why are we still in drought when it's been raining? 🌦️

Many people understandably think a drought is over once it starts raining. In reality, recovery takes much longer.

After months of exceptionally dry weather, rainfall first has to replenish dry soils and the wider environment before rivers return to expected levels. Only then can reservoirs begin to recover properly.

The recent rain is helping, but it hasn't undone months of exceptionally dry weather. We've also seen much less rainfall than was forecast for October, meaning water resources remain under pressure across the region.

That's why we're continuing to carefully manage supplies while recovery continues.

Learn New Cooking Skills with Mid Devon Housing! 🍳

Are you a Mid Devon Housing tenant interested in learning basic cooking skills? We're looking for 6 tenants to take part in a new and exciting FREE 6-week Cookery Skills Course in partnership with 2 local charities Involve and Allies.

📅 Starts: Tuesday 3 November
📍 Sunningmead Community Centre
⏰ 10:30am - 1:00pm
👥 Limited to 6 participants

During the course, you'll learn:
✅ Basic food preparation skills
✅ How to create simple, healthy dishes
✅ Kitchen hygiene and cleaning down procedures
✅ Tips to build confidence in the kitchen

Best of all, all food prepared during the sessions will be yours to take home!

⚠️ Participants must be available to attend all 6 weekly sessions.
