It's a bank holiday weekend!

That means that beautiful Antony will be open on Sunday 30th and Monday 31 August at our usual opening hours of 12pm-5pm.

The 30th will also be Antony's last Sunday for the rest of the year. Between 1 September and 29 October, we will be open Tuesday-Thursday once again.

Come and make the most of the summer sunshine as we welcome in crunchy-leaved autumn. Spread a picnic blanket on Antony's lawns for the perfect weekend escape!

We'll certainly be fitting in one last* ice cream, will you?

(*not really, we'll probably be eating them at Halloween too...)

Antony was made for slow afternoons with a good book ✨

Fancy a read under the shade of Antony's trees? If you've not bought your own, our second hand book shop has you covered, with non-fiction, fiction and children's titles in abundance.

Just add your favourite caffeinated beverage and read the afternoon away, complete with perfect views.

Antony is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays 12pm-5pm (last Sunday open this year is 30 August).

Let's tell you why this is the MVB (most valuable bench)...

If you take a shady seat here below Antony's house, you'll be flanked by stunning white roses at their peak of loveliness. The roses' scent is released by the sunshine and floats across this part of the garden, making this the most desirable picnic spot onsite!

Antony opens at 12pm today. Take a seat and take break in this beautiful landscape garden.

👀 NEXT WEEK AT ANTONY 👀

Phew! After a sweltering week, we're looking forward to welcoming you back to Antony in slightly more *tepid* conditions.

Antony will be open Tuesday 18, Wednesday 19, Thursday 20 and Sunday 23 August, 12pm-5pm.

There's so much summertime silliness in the gardens: you can even play on the site of Antony's historic tennis court!

Need a cooler activity? Take a turn around Antony's beautiful house and go on a hunt for hidden clocks hiding amongst the collection.

Top tip: It may be hot, but there's still plenty in bloom. We recommend taking a whiff of the wisteria and the stunning white roses by the house for a sensory delight.

Here's a new game for phytophiles (someone really interested in plants) that we just invented 🪷

We'll post a picture of a mysterious plant, but can you seek it out in Antony's gardens?

Somewhere you will find this magnificent Exmouth Magnolia which was bred in Devon in the eighteenth century. Its giant cream coloured flowers can grow as large as 25cm in diameter!

It's hard to miss, but can you find it in the gardens this week? Let us know!

Antony is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays in August, 12pm-5pm

Happy International Cat Day!

We're lucky enough to have lots of feline friends at our places in the Tamar Valley.

They all have an important part to play and are a key part of our team - not that we'd ever manage to get a staff badge on them! But if we could...

🐈 Tuna - Work Experience - Antony (just doing his best)

🐈‍⬛ Smudge - Apprentice Leaf Chaser - Antony (probably napping)

🐈 Bean - Small Mammal Surveyor - Cotehele (works hard, plays harder)

🐈‍⬛ Chilli - Orchard Guardian - Cotehele (this girly YAPS)

🐈 Ginger - General Mischief Manager - Cotehele (we all have one of those at work don't we?)

🐈‍⬛ Elphaba - Indoor Curator - Buckland Abbey (always perfectly groomed)

🐈 Obi - Feline Ranger - Buckland Abbey (often spotted on his 'rounds')

🐈‍⬛ Sparkle - Garden Inspector - Buckland Abbey (not a beetle out of place on her watch)

We'll be sure to give them extra ear scritches today! Have you ever spotted one of these hard working employees?

💛 NEXT WEEK AT ANTONY 💛

It's the season for making hay, why not have a little dance? This summery scene can be found in one of the tapestries on the ground floor of the house!

Next week Antony is open Tuesday 11, Wednesday 12, Thursday 13 and Sunday 16 August, 12pm-5pm.

Feeling the heat? We can keep your visit cool! Here's our suggestions:

- Seek the shade of the trees in the gardens between sampling sporting activities
- Find your cool in Antony's fascinating house. Can you spot all the hidden clocks?
- Pick up an ice cream from the lovely café
- Have a quiet read in the Second Hand bookshop

Antony's awesome staff are looking forward to welcoming you!
