GENERAL FIVE DAY FORECAST

Sunday 5th July - Thursday 9th July Inclusive
Good morning, everyone
Well, this next 5 days is going to be dry, sunny and pleasantly warm, if not hot for some, and I say some, not all.
We will have two areas of high pressure responsible for our weather throughout the next 7 to 10 days, bringing a lot of fine weather, chasing cloud from time to time, and not everyone will be seeing a heat wave of sorts.
Here is your all-important outlook.
SUNDAY 5th JULY:
We start off with a lot of cloud in the far west, giving sunny spells and variable amounts here, but move further east, and you will see more in the way of warm sunshine.
Temperatures starting around 15 to 17 degrees across the Southwest, including Bristol.
Along with light west or north-westerly winds of around 8mph.
Move into the afternoon and we start to see more in the way of wall to wall sunshine, with the far west always being at risk of some cloud coming in off the coast, to make it more hazy, or a case of sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud.
Afternoon temperatures reaching 18 degrees in the west, 23 or 24 degrees across Somerset.
Evening and overnight remains dry, good clear spells with patchy cloud here and there, and lows of 13 to 15 degrees.
Winds: W-NW, 5mph to 14mph
Temperatures: 15 to 24 degrees

MONDAY 6th JULY:
A cloudy start for most, and a noticeable west or southwest breeze first thing across Somerset.
Elsewhere, it will be a west or northwest light breeze of 4mph to 9mph.
The cloud will break to give sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud across Cornwall and west Devon, move further east and you should see the best of the unbroken sunshine for the second half of the day.
Temperatures range from 18 or 19 in the west, to 21 to 23 degrees in the east, so still not hitting the fresh hold of heat wave like conditions....yet..!
Evening and overnight, dry, with clear spells and variable amounts of cloud, and temperatures staying up between 14 and 16 degrees.
Winds: Variable, (W-NW / W-SW depending on location) 4mph to 10mph max.

TUESDAY 7th JULY:
Variable amounts of cloud first thing, with sunny intervals across the Southwest.
A noticeable north-westerly breeze across the far west also, of up to 11mph.
Into the afternoon and it's going to be the first day of temperatures hitting 25 degrees in central, and eastern parts, which will still be below fresh holds of heat wave criteria for the most, and the far west struggling to get above 21 degrees inland, 18 or 19 degrees on the coast of Cornwall.
As mentioned in my updates the past week with the maximum temperatures GFS charts, that it would all depend on the positioning of the high pressure, as to where we see the warmest temperatures, and if the Southwest will actually hit heat wave criteria.
Winds play a part this forthcoming week, as during the afternoon, we keep a west to north-west breeze in the west, of up to 15mph, less so inland and further west, hence temperatures will be a few degrees higher.
Regardless, its mild to warm, and sunny so whats there to moan about.
Moving on....
Evening and overnight, winds drop back to around 5mph, staying from a northwest direction, and minimum overnight temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees.

WEDNESDAY 8th JULY:
Sunny spells in the west, mostly wall to wall blue skies in the east.
Now, where the line is drawn as to where more cloudier conditions stop, is guess work, but at present, its looking likely that Cornwall will see sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud all morning, breaking into the afternoon to mostly blue skies.
Devon, eastwards will see the best of the sunshine with largely blue skies throughout.
Afternoon temperatures in the west reaching 20 degrees by the coast, 22 to 24 inland.
Devon eastwards will see the warmest temperatures with Bristol hitting 27 degrees, 23 to 26 elsewhere across Devon and Dorset.
Winds throughout will be from a north or northwest, so humidity won't be a concern across all parts by day, and up to 8mph.
Evening and overnight, dry, with clear spells in the west, clear skies in the east, and minimum lows of 17 degrees, so a muggier night for sleeping for all areas, but especially for Somerset, Dorset, and Bristol.
Winds: N-NW, 3mph to 8mph
Temperatures: 15 to 27 degrees (warmest part, Somerset and Dorset) cooler western areas.

THURSDAY 9th JULY:
Variable amounts of cloud in the west with good sunny spells.
Central and eastern parts of our region will see blue skies and feeling warm from the get go.
Into the afternoon, and the cloud should clear all areas to give blue skies, maybe some high level cloud here and there, and temperatures range from 21 degrees (coast) in the west to 28 degrees in the east, northeast, with Bristol seeing the highest of the temperatures.
We have a noticeable north or northwest breeze down the the west side of up to 10mph, north, northeast breeze across mainland, of 4mph to 7mph.
Evening and overnight and its going to be a very warm night for all parts with minimum lows of 17 or 18 degrees, with Bristol and parts of Somerset, not drop below 20 degrees and humidity is starting to pick up here by day and night also, but not for the rest of the Southwest at this time, it's just warmth from daytime land heating that's causing the milder nights.
Winds: N-NW-NE, 3mph to 10mph
Temperatures: 17 to 28, possibly 29 degrees (hottest in Somerset, north Dorset and Bristol)
Pollen: High to Very High
UV: High to Very High
Pressure: 1016mb
Humidity: 45% to 81%
Looking further ahead, eastern parts will become even hotter, hitting the 29 to 31 mark, whereas western areas will hit maximum temperatures of 23 to 26 degrees.
Now it needs to be 27 degrees or more for 3 consecutive days in a role across Somerset and Dorset to count as a new heat wave.
For Cornwall and Devon, it has to be 25 degrees or more for 3 consecutive days for it to be classed as a new heat wave, which some parts of Devon may hit these fresh holds towards the end of next week, but unlikely for much if not all of Cornwall based on the latest weather data.
So, this time round, we won't have the widespread humidity, the heat wave will be confined to more eastern parts of the south and southeast, but regardless, its going to be dry, good amounts of sunshine, and pleasant enough to enjoy it, not cook in it, except Somerset and Dorset, and even inland parts of Devon, where it may get a little too much for some, once again.
We also see the next ridge of high pressure move in from Thursday/Friday, which brings further dry and settled weather well into next weekend, so this drier weather and warm conditions are here to stay for some time, with no useful rain insight.
