This evening, whilst we were attending some trees and hedgerows involved in fire, a member of our crew spotted this miraculous little field mouse scurrying amongst the smouldering undergrowth.

After some searching, we located a family of mice in the hedgerow and were able to relocate them to a safe place 🐭 after being checked over, it’s safe to say this mouse was grateful for a drink of some of our water before running off to rejoin his friends.

Please follow our advice not to light ANY fires in the open during the current dry conditions. Fires spread easily, and the damage to property and our precious local wildlife can be devastating.

Always call 999 in an emergency 🚒

**The cause of this fire was accidental**

⚠️ Important ⚠️

Please see the attached post which provides key advice on steps everybody can take to help prevent wildfires during the current dry spell.

Our crew here at Towcester have been mobilised to an astonishing 7️⃣8️⃣ shouts since the beginning of June alone, more than twice as busy as the same period last year, which goes to demonstrate the impact of the current conditions.

If a fire in the open does break out, call 999 as soon as possible, as fires can quickly spread out of control in the current conditions.

Crews from Towcester and surrounding stations are in attendance dealing with this incident.

Around 35 firefighters from across Northamptonshire are currently dealing with a blaze at a barn, where fertilisers are thought to be stored, in the village of Blakesley, near Towcester.
The fire service was called just after 5.15pm today (Tuesday, July 28) and a 600m cordon is now in place at the site in Banbury Lane.
Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area and close windows this evening in the immediate vicinity.
Thank you for your support.

Great advice from our Police colleagues ⬇️

This is a plea to the residents of Towcester to please park with consideration around Swinneyford Road, and the Ambulance Station.
PC Carter saw 3 vehicles parked well within 10 metres of the junction on Tuesday 21st July. If the Ambulance is leaving to attend an emergency incident, the last thing the crew need is to have to manoeuvre their way out onto the main road, past badly parked vehicles obscuring their view - it's dangerous and causes them delays in responding to their emergency.
The registered owners of the vehicles seen were sent advice letters on this occasion.

Last night crews from Towcester, Mereway and a wildfire unit from our colleagues at BFRS West Ashland Fire Station attended a deliberately set fire on The Watermeadows in Towcester.

This was a protracted incident with difficult access for our fire appliances, crews, and kit.

Not only is this a much-loved area of green space in our community, but due to the weather conditions the area is also incredibly dry, therefore fires can quickly spread out of control.

Please avoid lighting any fires of any kind, including disposable barbecues, and always call 999 in the event of an emergency.
