Congratulations to Firefighter Jamie Mullen on successfully passing his Green Phase Assessment and achieving competency as an On-Call Firefighter.

This is a fantastic achievement and one that reflects the dedication and commitment Jamie has demonstrated throughout his three-year development. Balancing the demands of drill nights, training, operational duties, and assessments alongside his primary work commitments is outstanding.

Well done Jamie, and best wishes for for a long, safe and rewarding career as a competent On-Call Firefighter👏🏼🚒🔥

During spells of hot weather, the ground can become extremely dry and cause fires to spread rapidly.

Help us to reduce the risk of an emergency, by:

🔥 Throwing ci******es away responsibly - consider a portable ashtray for on the go
🔥 Taking litter home with you – sunlight reflecting off glass or metal can easily ignite dry grass
🔥 Not discarding of hot coals or disposable barbecues straight away or while they are still hot.

Remember - If you see a fire, move to a safe place and call 999. Give as much information as possible, including the terrain, size, and location.

Seen one of these signs dotted around? It means there's a hydrant nearby 💦

Help us out and don't park your vehicle in front of/on top of/in the way of our hydrants. You could be costing us valuable time!

We marked Firefighters Memorial Day today, Monday, 4 May, honouring those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

As the Service reflected, it also recognised the commitment of serving firefighters, who continue to protect communities across Scotland every day.

Spotted a crash or fire on a motorway?

Call 999 immediately and help emergency services reach the scene faster by sharing as much detail as possible:

🔸 Motorway name
🔸 Carriageway direction (e.g. northbound/southbound)
🔸 Nearest junction
🔸 Marker post details – look for small blue signs or white posts every 100 metres along the hard shoulder
🔸 If you have the what3words app, share the unique three-word location

The clearer the information, the quicker help can arrive.

Extreme wildfire warning for the whole of Scotland 🔥

There is an extreme risk of wildfire across the whole of Scotland from today until Saturday, 2 May.

We know many people across Scotland will be wanting to enjoy the good weather across the bank holiday weekend. We ask that everyone does so responsibly.

Wildfires have the potential to destroy property, landscapes and wildlife. All it takes is one spark to spread, causing a large amount of damage.

Remember, there’s no such thing as a 'harmless' fire.

Share this wildfire warning to help spread the word.

3,687 accidental house fires in Scotland last year.
Most could have been prevented.

That’s why the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is offering FREE Home Fire Safety Visits — quick, friendly visits that give you practical, potentially life‑saving advice.

Who’s most at risk?
• Older adults
• People with mobility, sensory or memory challenges
• Anyone affected by alcohol, drugs or smoking
• Homes with high levels of clutter
• People who smoke while using medical oxygen or emollients

If this sounds like you — or someone you care about — don’t wait.
