Not everything that takes a social worker a long time should be automated.

Reflection takes time. So does professional curiosity, listening properly to a child, supervision, making sense of information that does not agree, and reaching a decision you can stand behind.

None of that is waste. It is the job.

The problem was never the time spent thinking. It is how much of that time gets taken away by everything else.

Good technology should create more space for professional judgement, not less.

There are parts of social work that are difficult because the work itself is difficult.

I am interested in the repetitive work around it. The task you find yourself doing again and again and thinking there must be a better way.

I have my own list. Supervision notes. Chronologies. Repeating the same family information across different forms.

What would you remove?

This week has been a good week.

It has also felt completely overwhelming at times.

Trying to run a business, keep up with social work, be present at home and somehow give each of those things enough attention can feel impossible.

Some days I feel like I am doing all three badly.

Then I stop and remember why I started any of it in the first place.

Pebble matters to me because social work matters to me.

And everything else matters because of the people at home.

I do not have a clever lesson from this week.

Just a reminder that sometimes you keep going because the reason matters more than the pressure.

A written agreement, in the room, in Welsh.

Not translated afterwards and sent on. Prepared before the visit, then read and signed in the language the family chose, while you are sat with them.

Every Welsh local authority has a duty here. Welsh should not be the version that arrives a week later.

Some Mondays I genuinely have no idea which job I am starting first.

There is the day job. There is Pebble. There is everything at home that does not pause just because the week has started.

I used to think the answer was a better system for organising it all. Mostly it is just accepting that some weeks you do not get a clean run at anything, and starting somewhere.

If your Monday looks like this too, you are not doing it wrong.

Before Pebble was a platform, Pebble was the name we used for my daughter before she was born.

It was never meant to be her name. It was just ours.

But it stayed with me.

Years later, when I was trying to find the right name for something I had built around social work, Pebble felt right.

Because social work is often made up of small actions that have a much wider impact.

A conversation.

A visit.

Following something up.

Writing something clearly.

Making sure a child feels heard.

Individually, they might not look significant.

But they matter.

That is what the name represents for me.

The name is personal.

The purpose is professional.

Social Work First.

Pebble is not a replacement for your existing case management system. Your local authority system remains the record.

Really good day at the MediWales Finance and Funding Seminar in Cardiff today.

I had the opportunity to present Pebble as part of the company showcase and give people a little more insight into where it came from, what we have built and what we are trying to achieve.

It was a great opportunity to get Pebble in front of people who might never have come across it otherwise. Meeting new people. Having conversations. Making connections. And showing what can happen when something is built from inside social work rather than from a distance.

That is exactly what today gave me.

Some really interesting conversations, new connections and plenty to think about afterwards.

A great event and a genuinely valuable opportunity to get Pebble out into a wider room.
