It is crucial for everyone to learn about littering and it’s important to please remind your children and the community regarding littering.

🗑️ Trelewis High Street – Litter & Public Bin

I’ve seen the concerns raised regarding the amount of litter outside Trelewis Post Office/Premier, and I completely understand why residents and the business are frustrated. The amount of rubbish shown here is disappointing to see.

For some background, I previously raised a request for a public bin outside the Post Office/Premier with the Council.

At the time, I was advised that a public bin could not be located immediately outside the premises and needed to be situated a certain distance away. I therefore asked for the wider area to be assessed and, following that assessment, successfully had a new public bin installed by the Bontnewydd.

Given the concerns being raised again, I have offered to go back to Street Cleansing and ask for the area and current provision to be reassessed.

In the meantime, please can everyone play their part. Whatever the provision, there really is no excuse for dropping cans, wrappers, receipts and other rubbish on the floor. If there isn’t a bin immediately available, please take your rubbish with you until you find one.

We all want our High Street to be somewhere residents and businesses can be proud of. ❤️

Another Update! We had Cllr Gillian Preston - Bedlinog and Trelewis in our shop and we are sorting this now out!

How much longer do we have to beg for a Bin? I understand that it’s our responsibility to clean the store outside however how long can this go on? We have a bin inside yet every single day we see crisps packets on the floor, Beer Cans crushed and chocolate wrappers and post office receipts.

Community we want your support.

Something as simple as a Bin would solve the issue knowing that the post office is seen as a busy place by the area and even locals would want a public bin.

I have emailed the council multiple times and there was no update.

This will be the last post to hopefully solve this.

I may try and call again however the public we want your support the way we support you.
