sustainable fashion show
Get ready to rethink your wardrobe as Tring Together hosts Refashioned Finds, an
inspiring evening dedicated to the beauty of sustainable style. Taking place on 17
June at St Peter & St Paul Church, this community event proves that the most
fashionable clothes are the ones already in existence.
Moving away from the environmental impact of fast fashion, Refashioned Finds
celebrates the art of rewearing, reimagining and repurposing. The catwalk will
showcase stunning collections from local retailers Maggie J and Loft 68 Vintage,
Tring School students and Craft n a Cuppa, highlighting how pre-loved garments
can be transformed into modern masterpieces. From clever upcycling projects and
timeless retro gems to small producers who order in smaller quantities reducing
waste and emissions, the show is designed to spark creativity and encourage a more
circular approach to fashion.
The excitement doesn’t end on the catwalk. At the conclusion of the evening, you will
have the exclusive opportunity to shop the collections, purchasing items directly from
the local businesses to kickstart your own sustainable style journey.

🌊 Be Water Aware – Stay Safe Around Water This Summer 🌊

Drowning Prevention Week - 13th–20th June 2026. We are supporting Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service's Be Water Aware campaign to help keep our communities safe around water.

Tragically, 21 lives have been lost in water-related incidents across Hertfordshire since 2000. Many incidents occur during everyday activities such as walking, running, swimming, or jumping into inland waterways.

Stay safe near water by remembering:
✅ Be aware of your surroundings and avoid taking unnecessary risks.
✅ Never enter water to rescue someone in difficulty.
✅ If someone is in trouble, remember Phone, Float, Throw:
📞 Phone 999 and ask for the Fire and Rescue Service.
🛟 Float – encourage them to float on their back to stay calm and conserve energy.
🪢 Throw – throw a lifebuoy, throwline, or other suitable object if available.

📍 Use the what3words app to provide emergency services with a precise location, helping them reach an incident more quickly.

If your business, pub, café, or venue is located near water, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is encouraging you to undertake throwline training so you can help safely in an emergency.

Together, we can help prevent drownings and keep everyone safe around Hertfordshire's waterways.

Tring Town Council Mayor, Cllr Carol Nutkins - "On Wednesday 3rd June I had the pleasure, and privilege of attending The Smile Table at Tring Garden Centre.

Say it with a Smile is a charity supporting people living with dementia, their carers and families. They run a number of support groups, activities and courses each month. I've previously been to the Music Group in Leavesden and it was so much fun dancing and singing along to live music and seeing everyone having fun together.

I had a lovely chat with Michael, Maureen and Geoffrey (pictured) along with other members and their families at the Smile Table. Everyone said they enjoyed making new friends, felt supported and understood. Members get a warm and friendly welcome from Hannah, her volunteers and garden centre staff who provide this safe space for the group to meet and to have lunch and refreshments if they wish.

In fact we were having such a lovely time some of us ended up chatting for another hour after the advertised 1.30pm finish!

Hannah Say (also pictured with myself and Store Manager Alan Bright) founded Say it with a Smile in 2022 after years of working with people living with dementia and the families who care for them.

Say it with a Smile was created by listening closely to the needs of carers and families. Hannah remains dedicated to ensuring nobody faces this journey alone.

🧶🦋 The Yarn Bombers have been busy in Church Square!

As part of Great Big Green Week, they have decorated the postbox and bollards with beautiful handcrafted designs, bringing colour, creativity and a touch of nature to the town centre.

The display complements the Council's butterfly-friendly campaign, helping to celebrate the wildlife that makes our green spaces so special and raising awareness of the small actions we can all take to support pollinators and biodiversity.

A huge thank you to the talented Yarn Bombers for their fantastic work. Why not take a stroll through Church Square and see the colourful creations for yourself?

💧 Providing a water source for wildlife

St Martha’s Church, Tring is a hidden gem. 🌼St Martha's will open their stunning wildlife friendly garden for the afternoon as part of Tring's Great Big Green Week. There will be music, teas & cake and a plant sale. 🎵☕🍰🌿Admission free, but donations will be welcome to support WaterAid UK - the chosen charity of St Martha’s ‘Extra Mile’ fund, supporting charities in the global south. 💧
