This , we are incredibly proud to share a massive milestone for one of our amazing customers, McKenzie 👏

McKenzie has been working with Community Connecting team to master independent travel. While doing that, shared a big goal: to find part-time employment while attending college.

To build up skills for the retail industry, McKenzie and their Community Co-ordinator team up to apply for a shop assistant volunteer role at the Dorothy House Furniture Shop. After a warm welcome and an informal interview with the lovely shop manager, Caroline, McKenzie was invited to start the very next week.

Since then, McKenzie has been absolutely flying:
✅️ Mastered the Basics: Completed a full induction, learning shop safety and protocol.
✅️ Skill Building: Moved from tidying shelves and sorting donations to tagging, pricing clothing, and managing stock.
✅️ Taking Charge: The team was so impressed with McKenzie's rapid progress that they were quickly fast-tracked to shadow on the till!

McKenzie is now volunteering completely independently 🎉

Because of this brilliant success and all the new skills gained, McKenzie has now been officially referred to the Wiltshire Employment Support Team (WEST) to take the next big step toward paid work.

Massive congratulations to McKenzie for all their hard work, and a huge thank you to Caroline and the Dorothy House team for being such a supportive environment 💙👏

🌟 Meet the Team Monday 🌟

Mark is one of our brilliant Job Coaches supporting the Chippenham area 💼✨

Mark joined us almost two years ago, bringing a wealth of experience from a previous role where he also dedicated his time to supporting people into employment. He hit the ground running and has been an invaluable asset to the team ever since.

One of Mark’s greatest strengths is his natural ability to build meaningful relationships. In his own words, he is "good at finding that 'connection' with my customers", a skill that makes all the difference when helping someone build the confidence to take their next steps into work.

🍳 Mark loves cooking and has a massive soft spot for Mediterranean food. 🍅🌿

His dedication, experience, and gift for connecting with the people he supports are what make him such a fantastic Job Coach ❤️

I think we need to add that Mark has 'a sense of humour'. It might not always be that funny, but it's there 🤣🤣

Thank you for everything you do, Mark 🙌

🌟 Meet The Team Monday (Bank Holiday Editon)🌟

It’s time to shine the spotlight on a true legend of our team, Community Connecting Manager, Marnie

Marnie has been with the council for . . . well, let’s just say "too many years to mention" without making us all feel a bit old 🤫

She is fiercely passionate about the work we do, completely loyal, and officially holds the title of Sam’s "work wife" and ultimate partner in crime. 🕵️‍♀️❤️

She’s also known for doing absolutely ridiculous things for fun, recent weekend activity was running a charity race entirely dressed as a dinosaur 🦖💨

Behind the T-Rex suit, she is the Risk Assessment Queen and what she doesn't know about travel training is not worth knowing 🤟

Above all else, Marnie is happiest when she is supporting our team and helping young people to thrive. We would be completely lost without her energy, her heart, and her spreadsheet wizardry.
Thank you for everything you do, Marnie 🙌✨

(And no, i'm not sorry about the picture 💋)

🤝 Teamwork Makes the Dream Work 💪

It was a brilliant day today as the WEST Job Coach team gathered for a productive (and reflective) team meeting.

With almost the whole team in one room, we spent time looking back at our achievements over the last year, celebrating the successes of our customers and the partnerships we've built. But we’re not standing still!

We’ve spent the afternoon agreeing on our key priorities for the coming year to ensure we continue providing the best possible supported employment service in Wiltshire 😎

We also had a fantastic guest presentation from 'Local Offer' Jack. Keeping our finger on the pulse and staying up to date with local resources is vital, and Jack’s updates provided invaluable information that will directly benefit the people we support.

A huge thank you to Jack for sharing his expertise, and to the whole team for their energy and dedication. We’re feeling refreshed, focused, and ready for a busy year ahead! ✨📈

Abi has been with Community Connecting for 11 months. Her impact across the Trowbridge and Chippenham areas has been nothing short of fantastic 👏

🌍 Abi comes from African/Arab heritage and has been learning Swahili (very slowly)

❤️ As a Community Co-ordinator, Abi is in her element. Her favorite part of the job? The people: "I truly enjoy meeting new people. Being in this role allows me to connect with so many fantastic customers, families, and stakeholders every single day".

Look out for future 'Meet the team' posts 👀
And let us revel in the glory that is Abi 💃
