📢 We've been notified that the 30mph line-painting and sign installation on Dipford Road may start tomorrow (Tuesday 13th October) with minimal disruption. This is a week earlier than previously advertised. We'll keep you posted!

Some time ago, it was agreed that Dipford Road’s speed limit would be changed to 30mph from the junction at Higher Dipford Farm connecting to the existing 30mph zone at the junction of Honiton Road. The provisional markings were made before summer, but we’ve been chasing for the work to start.

Highways have just informed us that this work will start on the 20th October. They anticipate limited disruption while they install signs and paint markings on the road.

We’ll send a reminder nearer the time.

🌟It praises the Spirit of Cricket and sportsmanship, including fairplay and conduct.

🌟Commends us for administrative reliability - accurate match reporting, fixture fulfilment and strong communication.

An impressive 254 responses were submitted by our community during the consultation on proposals to turn Comeytrowe Road into a ‘Green lane’. 🌳

We know how vital this corridor is, particularly given how rapidly our local road network is evolving. Between ongoing changes to the road layout, the link to the Orchard Grove development, and the pending planning application on the Green Wedge (with its proposed entrance onto Comeytrowe Road), there are many moving parts.

We trust Somerset Council has someone keeping a watchful eye on the bigger picture so all these individual decisions and traffic impacts are joined up properly.

👉What happens next?

According to Somerset Council:
An update will be issued to key stakeholders in 2027 to outline next steps and share a revised timetable for proposal development and potential delivery.

This will include further engagement with local stakeholders and communities to refine the proposals before a potential trial is introduced.

W**e and art. 🍷🎨 Two things everyone needs in their life.

The good news is that Trull's Sarah, of Sarah's Lovely Stuff, who kindly painted our park dragon this summer, is exhibiting with other local artists this week.

Tomorrow night (Thursday 1st Oct) is OPENING NIGHT and you can have a glass of w**e whilst viewing the artwork between 5pm-8pm.

After that the expo is open 10am-5pm until the 4th October.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts and local knowledge during our informal consultation on the mitigation strategies for the approved Honiton Road roundabout.

Using your feedback, Trull Parish Council put together a presentation outlining key community priorities and concerns—including pedestrian safety, village parking, traffic calming, rat-running, and green space design. Last week, we presented this directly to the developer consortium and Somerset Council Planning to ensure our Parish’s voice is embedded into the project’s design brief before designs are finalised.

A temporary Road Closure: ttro721765W(TD) has been announced for Dipford Road, Trull on the 19th October which will last for 4 days for gas works.

Taunton Town Centre: We hear your concerns. 👪

Many residents have reached out to us recently to share concerns regarding the ongoing decline of Taunton town centre.

From the recent announcement about the Brewhouse, to empty high street units, constant roadworks, and the impact of Sunday parking charges, the vitality of our county town is slipping at a time when local businesses need support most.

As a neighbouring parish that relies on Taunton for retail, dining, and services, our community's voice matters.

To advocate on your behalf, we have formally written to Somerset Council.

In our letter (link below), we have:

👉Urged an immediate review of Sunday parking charges, which penalise visitors and drive shoppers away from the high street.

👉Raised alarms over high street vacancies and the loss of both anchor stores and independent favourites.

👉Requested a clear, transparent regeneration plan showing how Somerset Council intends to attract inward investment, improve town access, and involve surrounding parishes.

This town is well connected has the potential to thrive. We have asked for an update on SC's strategic vision and plans for regeneration.

We will keep the community posted as soon as we receive a formal response.

Comments on application 42/26/0028 (Strongvox Green Wedge) aren't appearing on the Planning Portal due to administrative delays - but we know lots of people have commented. We hope the problem will be resolved soon.

The planning officer has agreed that he will accept letters/recommendations up until the determination date of 26/11/26.

A decision is unlikely to be made on this application until we hear the outcome of 42/24/0030 (Appeal Green Wedge).
