Hello Community 👋

As our Trull Ridge Green Wedge Inquiry draws nearer, here's an update.

Thank you to those members of the community who have registered to speak in defence of the Ridge on the 8th September.

We now have a timetable for the proceedings. Week 1 will be Tuesday - Friday, in person at Taunton Racecourse and may also include a site visit. Week 2 will be held remotely on Teams.

We have enclosed the timetable.

Wessex Water, have declared a hose pipe ban in our area from today until further notice, caused by unprecedented demand and too little rain!

There's rain due this week. Fill those water butts! 🌧

Trull Parish Council has published a new Community Planning Briefing to help residents understand the updated National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) which was published and comes into effect today (17th August 2026.)

This Q&A guide explains what the national planning rule changes mean for Trull, our local green spaces, and our existing planning legal action.

With regard to the Green Wedge campaign, we are currently reviewing the changes with our legal team.

The pavilion in our award-winning park is available for hire. It's in a great location for parties, events and classes.

Our team, (aka, Steve), has been out clearing footpaths, and the catchily named Path 21/35 along the side of Trull Tennis club is now accessible again. However, it could do with some footfall to keep it clear, should any of you want to add a new path to your walks....

Good news park-lovers! The team have fixed the trampoline and zip wire and Trull KGV park has passed its annual safety inspection so it's ready for action!

The hearing into the above appeal will start on 08/09/2026 10:00am. Please arrive by 9.30am

Somerset Council is drafting a new Local Plan to guide future development across our area. The consultation closes on the 9th August.

This is an early stage consultation. Somerset Council is not asking parish councils or residents to approve or reject specific housing sites. Instead, it is seeking views on what the Local Plan should cover, how communities should be involved, and broad options for future growth across the county.

Why should the people of Trull Parish care?

👉2000 homes in the Comeytrowe Urban Extension
👉Trull Ridge Green Wedge under threat
👉7000 homes on 1,200 acres of arable farmland east of the M5 motorway and Taunton Racecourse.

All of these developments impact our village. If you have time, please respond to the consultation.
