𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐰𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤

Essential tree works will be taking place at Boscawen Park today, Thursday 12th February. The works will involve crown lifting and the removal of dead wood from the macrocarpa trees located on the riverbank opposite Café in the Park.

Some of the macrocarpa trees have grown unevenly from reduced light levels, and now contain a significant amount of dead wood. Removing this dead wood will improve the overall safety of the trees.

In addition, crown lifting will raise the lower branches to above head height, helping to prevent branches from striking vehicles and boats using the slipway.

The works will be carried out by John Hurle and Son, who will ensure safety measures are in place to minimise disruption to park users.

I have reported the streetlights that are not working on Moresk Road. It sure is dark walking down the hill without them.
This is now the third time in 2 years that these lights have gone off, I have asked the divisional member if he can find out why.

On Monday evening after months of hard work by the Town Clerks Office at Truro City Council and councillor workshops to dissect the surveys of residents wishes, I and my fellow councillors voted to pass the budget and precept for Truro through.

This will results in an increase in 0.75p per week for Band D households to give an example in real world terms.

I have seen many comments asking about why we aren't fixing potholes first, streetlamps and junctions and saying how we're increasing it to line our own pockets and pensions.

Unfortunately people seem to be confusing Truro City Council and Cornwall County Council.

TCC has no control over potholes, roadworks, street lights, bin collections or any of the myriad other things that Cornwall Council does.

We listened to residents wishes and the small increase whilst regrettable will pay for the essential services that we do provide such as the toilets, library, parks etc.

We have been asked to share the following update from Cornwall Council, regarding the My Truro - Truro Town Deal Lemon Quay project:

Work has officially started on the long-awaited improvements to Lemon Quay as part of the Truro Town Deal Lemon Quay project. Since the 5th January 2026, Cormac have been busy on-site preparing the area. This activity includes:

- Setting up the works compound, establishing a base for construction operations
- Erecting heras fencing around "The Drummer" sculpture to protect the artwork whilst other activity is underway
- Removing five key clamp barrier sections to help prepare the area for forthcoming improvements
- Removing thirteen Cornish bollards as part of the decluttering and rationalisation of street furniture
- Removing eleven planters, clearing space for future landscaping and tree planting elements
- Removing eleven planters with integrated benches, allowing the team to prepare for new furniture and planting schemes
- Installing nine new Cornish bollards outside the Hall for Cornwall, improving safety and organisation around the space

The 14-week scheme is being carefully phased to keep Lemon Quay open and accessible wherever possible. There are no road closures, buses are running as normal, public toilets are unaffected, and work is being coordinated with Truro City Council, Truro BID and event organisers to minimise disruption to markets and events.

Well done Steve Lennon, the Truro Anti-Social Behaviour Officer and all the others involved.

!PROPERTY CLOSED !

On Wednesday 7th January 2026 an application was heard at Truro Magistrates Court for a premises closure order in relation to a property within the Malabar estate.

This address had become a significant source of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage over the years, with various diversions, warnings, arrests and custodial sentences looked at to prevent further criminality.

The order was granted by the court which means that it is now an offence for anyone (other than representative of the housing association owners / emergency services) to enter. The order is in place for 3 months. further to this the male resident was also served with a notice of seeking possession by Cornwall Housing.

The decision to close the property was not made lightly, but Truro Magistrates saw fit to close the property to safeguard the wider community, particularly to allow females to once again feel safe to venture out after dark .

This result has come about through excellent community intelligence and partnership working from Truro, Perranporth and Tregony Police, Cornwall Housing, myself and, you, the great public of Truro.

The tenant had been engaged with by various partners to rectify his behaviours and bring peace to the neighbourhood, this tenant has, for their own reasons failed to engage with this support and continued to target vehicles belonging to females.

We as a Safer Cornwall partnership, hope this will restore peace to the area and offer other residents respite whilst encouraging the tenant to engage with support services to help them and protect them.

Further legal remedies are being sought to protect the public further and if you follow the page we will keep you updated.

We have also linked with the neighbouring police sectors to prevent the offending simply moving locality.
