I am sure most people are now aware of the serious fire which broke out last Sunday night at our neighbours, Porthtowan Beach Cafe. An awful and unexpected thing to happen, right in the lead up to the busiest part of the season, we really feel for them and wish them all the best in a tough time!
While we were incredibly lucky to only suffer minimal structual fire damage, the surf shop and in particular our stock room suffered serious wet smoke, fume and smell ingress.
Everything is covered in a layer of soot, and the smell of burnt acrid smoke has permeated the majority of our wetsuit and clothing stock, as well as the fixtures, fittings and fabric of the building.
We are thankful to be able to operate outside, so will be renting equipment, running lessons and have limited essentials like wax, leashes etc to keep you in the water! We also have some clothing stock which was saved from the shop so we will have rails set up outside, weather permitting.
We would like to say a massive thank you to everybody who has offered support in the last week, it means a lot!
Also to all those who jumped in last Sunday to quickly empty the shop as the fire broke out, it made a massive difference to what we saved and we really appreciate it!
We aim to be back up and running at full capacity as soon as possible, once the insurers co-ordinate the clean up.
