Cornwall Community Flood Forum A Cornish charity committed to supporting communities, households and businesses before, during and after flooding. Swearing in any form will not be tolerated.

The Cornwall Community Flood Forum is a community-led initiative committed to supporting communities, households and businesses at risk of flooding. We are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with a membership that includes local councils, community groups and individuals with an active involvement in flood risk management. We are here to promote partnership working within flood risk management and support communities before, during and after flooding. The Cornwall Community Flood Forum was established as a Members Association following widespread flooding throughout mid Cornwall on the 17th of November 2010 when more than 300 households and businesses were affected. We gained charitable status on 19 April 2016 (Charity No:1166604). The activities of the Forum are guided by a Board of Trustees that consists of individuals who possess either skills in flood risk management or an enthusiasm to make a difference locally. Board Meetings are also attended by representatives from Cornwall's flood 'Risk Management Authorities'; Cornwall Council, the Environment Agency, South West Water. ๐ŸŒง๏ธPenryn Flood Group Severe Weather Desktop Exercise! ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Last week, 12 of Penryn's local Community Volunteer Flood Wardens gave up their evening to come together and tackle a severe weather desktop exercise. The group discussed how they might respond to different scenarios during a storm event, using their Community Flood Plan to guide them. ๐Ÿ“‹

A timely response here is vital as the area is part of a Rapid Response Catchment, vulnerable to flash flooding. Soon, the group will be taking on a live exercise to help put their local knowledge and skills to the test, out and about on the ground!

๐ŸŒŠ Shining a Light on Local Flood Support Groups: Cornwall Community Flood Forum

As part of our โ€œShining a Light on Local Flood Support Groupsโ€ campaign, weโ€™re celebrating the communities and volunteers working behind the scenes to help people prepare, adapt, and become more resilient to flooding.

Today, weโ€™re highlighting Cornwall Community Flood Forum, a community-led organisation helping people across Cornwall better understand flood risk, prepare for flooding, and build long-term resilience.

With a growing network of local communities and volunteers, the Forum supports initiatives including Flood Warden training, community flood plans, practical exercises and Property Flood Resilience.

The work in Lostwithiel is a great example of this in action, with local Flood Wardens putting their community flood plan to the test through a realistic emergency exercise.

From sharing local knowledge to building practical skills, Cornwall Community Flood Forum shows the power of communities coming together to prepare for future flood events.

Thank you to CCFF and all the local flood support groups making a difference across our communities.

An emergency grab bag is a collection of essential items that are ready to use if your home loses power or you need to leave quickly, for example in a flood event.

Putting one together usually takes just a couple of hours and doesnโ€™t have to cost a lot. Yet being prepared can reduce anxiety and stress, helping you and your family feel more confident should an emergency occur.

Once youโ€™ve put together your emergency grab bag, weโ€™d love to see it! Find our more and enter the competition below ๐Ÿ‘‡
