Local Direct Cremation

A local direct cremation is a more affordable farewell where a deceased person is taken directly to a crematorium and cremated without a formal service or mourners present.

If direct cremation is the funeral option you are considering, then this can be booked at Penmount through a local funeral director. This gives you the option to choose the facility you prefer.

You can find comfort in the fact:

Your loved one will be in the care of a local funeral director and the funeral will be handled with the respect and dignity you would expect.

A local funeral director will be familiar with our facility and will be able to answer any questions you may have.

You will be informed of the exact date of the cremation.

After cremation options will be open to you following the cremation. On-site memorials (we have a range of memorial options to honour your loved one in a meaningful way)/ cremated remains rested on-site at no extra cost or removal of cremated remains/ attended resting of cremated remains if required (small charge)/professional staff to advise you through every process.

Would you like to know more about Local Direct Cremation?
Just get in touch with us by email
([email protected]) or telephone. (01872 272871)

Even without an attended service, we ensure every funeral is handled with care, dignity and respect.

Penmount's Peace

Amid the quiet beauty of Penmount's gentle grounds,
A soothing sense of peace and reflection softly surrounds.
Colourful flower beds bloom brightly in the sun,
Their vibrant hues a reminder that life and nature are one.

Butterflies drift gracefully on a warm and tender breeze,
Dancing among the blossoms and resting where they please.
Beneath the open sky, where birdsong fills the air,
There is comfort in the stillness and serenity found there.

A place of remembrance, yet full of living light,
Where nature's gentle beauty brings hope both day and night.
In Penmount's tranquil gardens, memories softly stay,
Carried on butterfly wings as seasons pass away.

Penmount Crematorium has always been committed to providing compassionate, professional support to families, so this recognition is a wonderful reflection of the dedication of the whole team.

πŸ† Award-Winning Service at Penmount Crematorium πŸ†

We are delighted to share that Penmount Crematorium's Bereavement Services Team has been awarded the Highly Commended Service Excellence Award at Cornwall Council's Annual Employee Awards.

This recognition celebrates the team's outstanding response following severe storm damage earlier this year, when fallen trees and debris threatened to disrupt scheduled cremation services. Despite challenging conditions, staff went above and beyond their normal duties, working together out of hours to clear access routes, restore the grounds, and ensure that all services continued as planned for bereaved families.

Thanks to the dedication, teamwork and professionalism of our staff, families experienced minimal disruption during an exceptionally difficult time. Their commitment to delivering a compassionate, reliable and high-quality service was recognised through the Service Excellence Award category.

This award belongs to every member of the Penmount team. We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved and grateful for the care, resilience and support shown day in, day out for the communities we serve.

πŸ‘ Congratulations and thank you to the entire Penmount Crematorium team. Your hard work truly makes a difference.

🌿 Summer at Penmount Crematorium 🌿

Penmount is looking beautiful this July, with colourful hanging baskets, vibrant summer bedding displays, and blooms including Hydrangeas and Hebes brightening our memorial gardens.

Our grounds continue to provide a peaceful place for reflection while supporting local wildlife, with rabbits and even a fox and her cubs recently spotted on site.

Despite the challenges of the recent hot weather, our dedicated gardening team is working hard to maintain the high standards visitors expect, ensuring Penmount remains one of Cornwall's most tranquil and welcoming places of remembrance.

Supporting Cornwall Council's vision for clean, green spaces, thriving communities and wellbeing for all.

Cheque Presentation to Cornwall Blood Bikes

Penmount Crematorium was pleased to present a cheque for Β£17,841.13 to Cornwall Blood Bikes. The total included Β£17,000 raised through the ICCM Metals Recycling Scheme and Β£841.13 from fundraising events held at the crematorium.

The ICCM Metals Recycling Scheme responsibly recycles metals recovered following cremation, with families' consent, raising funds for charitable causes while supporting environmental sustainability. Nationwide, the scheme has raised over Β£23 million for charities.

Cornwall Blood Bikes provides a vital volunteer-led service, transporting blood, medication and other essential medical supplies between healthcare facilities across Cornwall.

We thank the families who support the recycling scheme, everyone who contributed to our fundraising events, and the dedicated volunteers at Cornwall Blood Bikes. We are proud to support such an important local charity.

🌟 Celebrating 70 Years of Penmount Crematorium – Thank You for a Wonderful Open Day! 🌟

What a fantastic day we had celebrating 70 years of Penmount Crematorium with our community, colleagues, partners and visitors.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us to mark this important milestone, helping to make the event such a memorable occasion. It was wonderful to share the history of Penmount and showcase the services and support available within our local community.

A very special thank you goes to the wonderful charities and organisations that supported the event and helped visitors learn more about the valuable services available across Cornwall:

πŸ’› Cornwall Blood Bikes – providing a voluntary emergency courier service, transporting blood, medical supplies and other essential items to support healthcare services across Cornwall.

πŸ’™ Children's Hospice Southwest – offering expert care and support for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families.

πŸ’š Man Down – a Cornwall-based charity supporting men’s mental health and well being through peer support groups and community engagement.

🀍 CRUSE Bereavement Support – providing compassionate support, advice and information to children, young people and adults who are grieving.

πŸ’œ St Petroc's – working to end homelessness in Cornwall by providing accommodation, support, advice and services to help people rebuild their lives and find a place to call home.

🧑 Penhaligon's Friends – supporting bereaved children, young people, parents and carers across Cornwall through counselling, groups and specialist bereavement services.

🀝 Personal Choice Funeral Directors – providing compassionate funeral care and guidance to families, while offering support and information to those navigating bereavement and end-of-life arrangements.

πŸ•ŠοΈ Dor Kemmyn Multi-Faith Group – promoting understanding, inclusivity and support across different faith communities, helping people come together through education, dialogue and shared values.

We would also like to extend special thanks to Camborne Brass Band and our special guest Will Keating, whose wonderful musical performances on the front lawn created a warm and uplifting atmosphere throughout the day and were enjoyed by everyone in attendance.

The day concluded with a beautiful and reflective Service of Remembrance, led by the Archdeacon of Cornwall, The Venerable Clive Hogger. His thoughtful words provided a fitting end to our celebrations, honouring the countless lives remembered at Penmount over the past 70 years.

Finally, thank you to our staff, volunteers and partners whose hard work behind the scenes ensured the day ran so smoothly.

As we reflect on 70 years of serving our community, we look forward to continuing to provide a place of remembrance, support and care for generations to come.
