It’s okay if motherhood isn’t the dream you thought it would be. No one tells you the reality of what motherhood actually is, they only tell you the highlights. This is something I struggle with but try to do! So much of life with kids feels out of control that I often get frustrated and overwhelmed. I know I have the tools I need to help myself and I share these with my mums in my groups but that doesn’t mean it’s easy or comes naturally. ❤️

We all fail on days and lose our patience. There is no such thing as a perfect mum but I know I’m the perfect mum for my kids and that’s all I try to be ❤️

Rest is controversial for us Mums!

With so much to do if we stop or take any pause it comes with accompanying guilt…we have responsibilities and duties to fulfill.

Rest is often seen as selfish and lazy

Rest is often something we plan to do later

Rest is something that we don’t prioritise and often don’t even put it on our to do list

But here’s the thing about ignoring rest…it is impossible to put off for long without causing stress and overwhelm and burnout.

By allowing yourself time and space to rest you give your body, mind and soul the opportunity to recharge.

It doesn’t have to be a weekend away at a spa, if you have young children it might not even be a full nights sleep but even 10mins of rest where you are able to just be with your thoughts and to take some breaths and just be in the moment will help to reduce stress and overwhelm.

No one will prioritise you except you ❤️

There are seasons in our lives when we just can't do it all. ✋We are called to simplify our priorities and choose the most important tasks, people and situations to put our attention on.

While it may seem like it takes a certain sense of ruthlessness to cut off noise, requests and possibilities, I believe it also takes a great amount of self love.❤

Self love is about knowing what you can and cannot handle and acting accordingly.👍
