Plan your visit: https://www.nts.org.uk/visit/places/fyvie-castle The charm of Fyvie ranges from its 13th-century origins to its stunning Edwardian interiors. The castle is home to a superb collection of arms, armour and paintings, including works by Raeburn and Gainsborough. Stroll around the picturesque loch, or visit the restored 1903 racquet court and bowling alley. Ghosts, legends and folklor

e are all woven into the tapestry of Fyvie Castle’s 800-year history. Tradition claims that the castle’s five successive families – Preston, Meldrum, Seton, Gordon and Forbes-Leith – each added a tower to this magnificent Scottish Baronial fortress. You can see their influences today among the medieval stones and the lavish Edwardian interiors, and imagine what castle life must have been like for the families and their royal guests – among them Robert the Bruce, Edward I and Charles I.

VISITOR NOTICE 🌳⚠️

The below message comes from the team at Fyvie Estate:

There is tree felling going on at the moment in the woodlands beside the entrance to Fyvie Castle.

Please follow all signage in this area.

There have been instances of these signs being ignored and still walking through the woods where the contractors are working which is very dangerous.

Please can visitors avoid the areas until further notice and an update when it is safe to walk through the woods again, will be posted in due course

A fantastic opportunity to get an exclusive peek inside Old Home Farm tonight, Thu 21 May, at 8.30pm on BBC Scotland!
Repeated across the week and on iplayer too.

Rosie from Landward joined Caroline, our Project Delivery Manager, for a tour of what was once the beating heart of the estate and local community.

Rosie also hears about our ambitious, multi-million pound Fyvie Reimagined project. The first stages of which will focus on conserving Old Home Farm, recently fully acquired by the National Trust for Scotland, and putting it at the centre of the visitor experience. Find out more here: https://www.nts.org.uk/visit/places/fyvie-castle/reimagining-fyvie

Next time on Landward, Rosie steps back in time in Aberdeenshire to find out what one old farm building can tell us about our past.
