🚨 Planning a Controlled Burn? Let Us Know First. 🚨

Turriff Fire Station is asking all local residents, land managers, farmers, and gardeners to contact us before carrying out any controlled burning, no matter how small.

This includes garden waste burns, muirburn, and land management fires.
Letting us know helps prevent false alarms and unnecessary emergency call outs — keeping our crews available for real emergencies.

✔ Please report ALL planned burns to:

Before you burn, remember to:
• Have a burn plan in place
• Check weather and wind conditions
• Keep the burn small and manageable
• Have enough people, water, and tools on site
• Ensure it is fully extinguished before leaving — and recheck the next day
If a fire becomes out of control, call 999 immediately.

🔥 TURRIFF FIRE STATION NEEDS YOU – HELP KEEP OUR COMMUNITY SAFE! 🚒

Turriff Fire Station is currently looking for people in the local area to join the team as On-Call Firefighters.

On-call firefighters respond to emergencies from home or work, helping protect the community both day and night. It’s a rewarding role that fits alongside your main job while allowing you to make a real difference locally.

Could this be you?

✅ Are you 18 or over?
✅ Do you live or work in the Turriff area?
✅ Do you have a good level of physical fitness?
✅ Would you like to learn new skills, challenge yourself, and support your community?

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Age isn’t a barrier – as long as you can pass the national selection tests.

Our firefighters carry a pager and respond to a wide range of emergency incidents, while also taking part in training and community safety work, all alongside their main employment.

Asda security colleague Callum, who's also an on-call firefighter, rescued a motorist whose car skidded off a road in snowy conditions and crashed onto its side in a water-filled ditch.

Callum, who's 25, was working on click and collect at our Huntly store when he got the call from Huntly Community Fire Station. He dropped everything so he and his fellow firefighters could get to the scene of the crash on the B9002 as quickly as possible. Two passengers had managed to escape, but the driver was trapped. Callum volunteered to enter the vehicle, and held the driver in place while his watch commander undid her seatbelt and she was to pulled to safety.

He said: "Luckily, she wasn't injured, but she was a bit shaken up. If the car had rolled the outcome could have been different as the water was icy cold. When something like this happens your brain is just like a computer, robotic. There's no real fear or emotion. My sole focus was on getting the lady out as quick as I could. Our main concern was making sure she didn't end up in the water and was extracted safely."

The firefighters then gave the lady and her passengers a lift back to Asda where they were given warm drinks. They were later picked up by a friend and taken home.

A huge festive thank you to all the brilliant Turriff shoppers who stopped by and supported us while we were collecting beside Tesco today ❤️🎁 Your generosity never fails to amaze us!

🎄 We’d also like to say a big thank you to Tesco for the fantastic hamper kindly donated to the station – very much appreciated by the crew 🎅👏

💛 As well as supporting The Fire Fighters Charity, the money raised goes towards local charities and projects right here in the community.
A great example of this is the defibrillators beside the Turriff Coo statue and outside The Fife, which were purchased and are maintained using money raised through our Christmas collections ❤️🚑

Thank you all once again for your continued support – it really does make a difference locally.

🚨🎅 Santa’s street tour is complete… but he’s not done yet! 🎅🚨

✨ That’s us finished going round the streets of Turriff for this year ✨
