𝐓𝐖𝐘𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐃 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐔𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐇 𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐋𝐘

𝐍𝐨 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠! It is an annual meeting of the community, to which all residents of the Parish of Twyford are warmly invited to attend, meet their councillors and learn more about projects in the village.

Refreshments will be available. There will be a mini exhibition with displays on some community projects, including the 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞, new 𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤 and 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 on High Street.

Councillors will be available to meet and chat with you and answer any questions.

At this year's meeting, there will be a short formal part with Chris Mitchell giving an update on the work of the Parish Council over the past year and the Parish Clerk will present an update on the reorganisation of Local Government in Hampshire and what it means for Twyford and Wi******er.

𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐲𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐄𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞 - 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚

Marwell Wildlife (Marwell Zoo) are continuing the search for a Capybara, called Samba, which escaped the site last Tuesday.

Yesterday, Sunday, there was a sighting of the Capybara by the Itchen between Twyford and Brambridge Garden Centre.

Search teams are still looking for Samba and urgently need your help as they continue to investigate.

If you are nearby and believe you’ve seen Samba, please send a photo and exact location to 07436 167401.

Please do not approach Samba. Although she is not dangerous she could be stressed.

The A34 (from Three Maids Hill) and A33 (from the Cart and Horses junction), both southbound will be closed on:

𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 - 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸!

The Parish Council is pleased to announce that, following a short delay in the Autumn, work on the long awaited Flood Mitigation Scheme along Hazeley Road will start during the next week (w/c 19th January 2026).

The project is designed to avoid the impacts of the previous flooding seen in the village in 2000 and 2014, which caused significant disruption.

The first part of the work will entail the removal of some hedges and trees, which will be replanted once the construction work on the ditch and culvert is completed. Whilst the work is ongoing there will temporary traffic lights in operation from 19th to 23rd January.

Thank you to all of those who attended the drop in session at the Parish Hall on the 18th November, where the designs were on display. These designs, along with much more information are available in the dedicated section on the Council's website with detailed information about the scheme:

The roadworks that are due to start on 5th January will 𝐍𝐎𝐓 require the closure of Main Road. There will be temporary traffic lights for the duration of the works.

SGN have previously apologised for the incorrect information being sent to residents and provided the following update:

We will be working in Main Road, Colden Common from outside Wessex Park to the junction of Woodland Drove. Multi-way signals will be in place during this time.

During the work the traffic lights will be manually controlled from 07:00 – 19:00 Monday to Friday and 09:30 to 17:00 Saturday and Sunday to help reduce the build-up of traffic.
