Another fantastic result for Uckfield Leisure Centre!

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in our campaign. We were told time and time again that this was a foregone conclusion, but we made sure our voices were heard - and they listened!

UCKFIELD LEISURE CENTRE IS STAYING OPEN!! WE DID IT!

Huge news just arrived today - East Sussex County Council and Wealden District Council are signing a new 19 year lease to Save Uckfield Leisure Centre and keep it open!

Over 3300 people filled in the consultation, shouting loud and clear that we wanted to keep our leisure centre and pool open. I am so pleased to be able to tell you that they listened to us!

It's an absolutely huge victory for the campaign, which only started in earnest a few months ago.

I cannot tell you how pleased and relieved I am, both for residents and the staff. I have just been telling the staff at the leisure centre, whose jobs have been on the line. Their patience and dedication has been brilliant at such a difficult time.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in the campaign, everyone who filled in the consultation, and who came to the rally. Your support has been immeasurable and I am pleased to say, worthwhile.

The fine details are yet to be made public, but we did it. We did it!

It is good to see Uckfield Leisure Centre being promoted to residents again with leaflets through doorsteps. We must continue to support our Leisure Centre whilst we wait for the consultation responses from East Sussex and the detail from Wealden about what happens next!

Ten weeks ago the hardy souls of Uckfield braved the elements and turned out to support the rally held at Leisure Centre. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported the campaign to save the pool and dry-side facilities.

Whether you've shared your stories and memories, signed petitions, drawn pictures or made placards... you've been amazing!

Uckfield Urban Myth: "It'll be fine. I've signed the petition, and so have 6,000 other people."

Leisure Centres offer safe spaces to participate in activities that improve one's health and fitness. These statistics are a stark reminder of just how valuable it is to have easy access to them.
