As well as being an active railway, the station and rail corridor are home to a wide range of wildlife as noted in this post by Riley's Miniature Railway. Additionally we spotted a fox cub exploring the railway line and heading for the bushes on the approach of the train.

Lady Lisa is running the service today and we used her for shunting before the service. This evening we have a driver experience so the extended day requires additional coal - hence the supply on the front running plate being taken round to the platform.

We look forward to welcoming our visitors this weekend. We will be running steam with Cockerill Lady Lisa on Sunday and Diesel with the Class 73 on Monday.

The tea room will be open and Riley’s Miniature Railway will also be offering rides on the 5” gauge railway.

We are pleased to announce that our steam locomotive, Lady Lisa, passed her in steam boiler exam yesterday and is ready for the new season. Her first public trains of the year will be next Sunday, 8th March. We would love to see you.

We took advantage of her being in steam to do a bit of shunting, including moving all the stock out of the bay platform to allow it to be cleared of vegetation. This is the first time the bay platform has been completely empty in a good few years.

Full list of open days is available on our website www.lavender-line.com. We will be running a mix of steam and diesel traction over the course of the season.

It is the last day of our public season tomorrow, Sunday 26th October.

Lady Lisa, seen here simmering under the stars after having a warming fire today, will be hauling the train.

After tomorrow, we will be taking a break from public services through November as we prepare for Father Christmas, who will be visiting for the theee weekends in December. Advance booking is essential for these days - see more at www.lavender-line.com.

Lovely morning at Isfield. The new arrival, ED 73140 sits outside the shed with Cockerill Lady Lisa.

Looks like perfect weather for a Bank Holiday weekend. Come and enjoy our diesel service today and steam service tomorrow.

DEMU 1133 will be in use today.

73140 has been undergoing checks and will be put into service very shortly - watch this space.
