Uckfield Town Council is made up of 15 Councillors who are elected every four years. The Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor are elected by the Councillors every year. The Council has three main committees - General Purposes, Plans and Environment and Leisure, two sub-committees - Personnel, and Finance - and a number of working groups including The Voice Editorial Panel. The Full Council and main co

mmittees meet approximately every eight weeks. The Plans committee meets every three weeks to make observations to Wealden District Council, which is the planning authority. All Council meetings are held in the Council Chamber, on the first floor of the Civic Centre and are open to the public. Agendas are available to the public before the meetings on notice boards throughout the Town and on the Council’s website. At these meetings, members of the public are allowed to address Councillors at the discretion of the Chairman of each meeting. The Town Council has its offices on the first floor of the Civic Centre, and is open to the public Monday - Thursday 9.00am to 5.00pm and Friday 9.00am to 4.00pm. The Council Offices are the first point of contact for all Council services, and can be contacted by telephone on 01825 762774. Glorious weather marked our Town Crier's latest outing to the Beacon at Victoria Pleasure Ground, where this week's cry was delivered. 📣

🎨 News this week began with the upcoming Father's Day Pottery Painting session at The Civic Centre Uckfield / Luxfords Restaurant on Thursday 4th June. The event runs from 10am to 12pm, with no booking required.

🤝 On Wednesday, 3 June, a Free Business Growth Workshop takes place at the Civic Centre, delivered by Freedom Works. Registration is FREE.

🐥 And next Saturday, 6 June, Ridgewood Village Hall hosts a Bird Puppet Workshop, courtesy of the Tinker Club. Email [email protected] to book a spot - £5 per child.

As Winnie the Pooh turns one hundred, be part of a magical new story for Ashdown Forest. The Big One Hundred (https://orlo.uk/Ea8TK) is a brand new programme of performances, workshops and activities and will introduce a new character to the Forest - a curious creature inspired by the landscape and special species who live here. Come and see this creature, collect your Explorer badges and earn your place as an official Ashdown Explorer!

On a scorching Saturday, the Uckfield Town Crier was in full flow on the High Street! 📣

There was a shout out for the Uckfield Allotment & Cottage Gardeners Association’s Plant Swap event at The Source. 🥕

🏺 Today (Tuesday 26th), Pots of Love Ltd - Uckfield host a pop-up pottery event at Ridgewood Village Hall.

🎭 From Wednesday 27th to Saturday 30th May, the Millennium Players perform The 39 Steps at Nutley War Memorial Hall.

✨ And finally, the Town Crier was joined by Uckfield Theatre Guild to promote their production of Beauty & The Beast this half-term at The Civic Centre Uckfield!
