A Memory

On Saturday December 21st 2019 Eugenia Rendall MacDonald passed in Aberdeen, aged 103 years. Eugenia was a primary school teacher who taught in Uist, Glasgow and Hong Kong, and her father had a house built called Cnoc An Luib in Carinish in North Uist. His name was Donald John Macdonald and he was a sea captain.

The photos (taken on Saturday 12th Dec) below are Eugenia's 1950 bible and Uig communion token. The bible is inscribed with 'Mrs A Matheson, Mission House, Scalpay, Harris' and it's not known who is in the photo.

I do not know how the bible or token came into Eugenia's possession or if she came to Baile na Cille, or Uig's other churches or mission houses, but rather than risk the fading of these possible connections into a forgotten place, the bible, the token and any new information will now become part of Baile na Cille's past, present and future.
