Last week was Volunteers Week! We're a tad late but didn't want to miss the opportunity to thank all our wonderful volunteers and give you all a snap shot of what they get up to here at Swarthmoor Hall...

Our volunteers range from caring for our beautiful gardens and wildlife, helping in our cafe to serve all our lovely customers, to giving visitors to our historic house a guided tour and expanded history of the hall and its people.

We're expanding our volunteer programme to include even more opportunities for people in our community to get involved, bring a wealth of knowledge, learn new skills and become a part of the Swarthmoor Hall family.

⚠️CUSTOMER NOTICE⚠️

Unfortunately we will be CLOSED tomorrow (Wednesday 20th May) due to Electricity North West turning off our electricity supply for the day, whilst they carry out works in the area.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but we will be open as normal on Thursday, from 10.30am for our Cafe, Historic House, Gardens and Conference facilities.

Work is underway 🤩🤩🤩

The new path extension is now in progress 💜 this work will make our site 100% accessible from the car park to the cafe, shop, our accessible accommodation and our conference room!

We are still OPEN whilst this work takes place, we just have a new route on the path from the car park, around the barn and cafe, into the courtyard 💜

We have had the absolute pleasure of welcoming the Friends World Committee for Consultation - FWCC World Office trustees to Swarthmoor Hall.

The schedule has been busy and it has been wonderful to have so many conversations with people from all around the world, learning more about the Quaker mission and values, whilst sharing the history and heritage of Swarthmoor Hall and the surrounding area.

We hope you have all enjoyed your time here with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future. 🤩

Quakers from Kenya, El Salvador, Rwanda, South Africa, the Philippines, Australia, Aotearoa, the USA, Mexico, Germany and England are currently gathered at the 'first Friends World Office' - Swarthmoor Hall - for the last day of the annual in-person Central Executive Committee of the Friends World Committee for Consultation.

Thank you to staff and local residents for welcoming us so warmly.

With the help of interpreters the meeting is taking place in three languages, and helping decide the future steps of the global body which connects Quakers together in 100+ countries.

Part of the Friends World Committee's mission is to communicate our common message and heritage internationally. We look forward to sharing more news soon.
