Anyone with long hair knows the dread of hair wash day…
It’s always a faff, takes a lot of effort, and more often than not ends with "I'll do it tomorrow".

So when nobody's booked in at Restwell Retreats, "the hairdressers" opens. A lovely lady we support visits with her care team for a hair wash. Thanks to the roomy environment, a height-adjustable swing basin, and the Raz-AT tilt-in-space chair, wash day feels less like an exhausting chore and more like a VIP salon visit.

What's your hair-wash-day excuse?👇 💇‍♀️

Shayna is always sending in the best snaps from her days out with the people we support! ⭐️

Last Saturday was a packed one, starting at the garden centre, from feeding the koi to debating why Christmas displays are already out in October.

After that, it was straight over to Mote Park for a dog walk, followed by a quick shop where Abby took charge of the basket. Honestly, far more productive than our Saturdays.

Massive shoutout to Shayna for sharing the highlights 💜

A big shoutout to Ellie for absolutely smashing her Monday at Lainey's Care Farm! 🚜

Trying a new group can feel incredibly daunting, but Ellie embraced the change like a true superstar 💜

Shayna joined Ellie to care for the guinea pigs before they headed out for a lovely walk to feed the donkeys. They even managed to squeeze in a trip to the snack shop, rounding off a fantastic day.

Well done, Ellie! We’re so proud of how brilliantly you handled the change 🌟

Is your home autumn-ready? 🍂

As the weather turns colder, small preparations can make a huge difference in keeping older loved ones safe, comfortable, and independent at home. We’ve put together a simple seasonal checklist to help families prepare:

- Book autumn boosters: Speak to your GP or pharmacist early in the season to schedule flu and COVID-19 jabs.

- Prepare essentials: Ensure you have enough stock of regular medication, basic food items, and heating credit, plus a torch and emergency numbers within easy reach.

- Test your alarms: Use the upcoming clock change as a reminder to test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and check expiry dates.

- Check the heating early: Test your radiators and thermostat now, keep main rooms at a comfortable temperature, and check if you're eligible for support via your energy supplier's Priority Services Register.

- Plan regular check-ins: Agree on who will call or visit during colder spells so no one feels isolated.

Getting ready for the colder months can feel like a lot to handle on your own, but you don't have to manage it alone. Whether you need occasional check-ins or consistent daily support, our team is here to help 💜

We hear your cries of despair, and welcome you...to the Sunday edition of Nikki’s Word of the Week!

A day of fresh air and reconnecting with nature at the Rare Breeds Centre 🦊🍂

One of the people we support spent some time last week at a local rare breeds centre, winding through woodland paths, letting their creative side out, and watching some pig racing.

At the art table, the talent he exudes is remarkable: he works by looking at his subject the whole time he draws, never glancing down at the page, just watching, then somehow knowing exactly where the next line or colour needs to go. Sun faces, fox paw prints, a vibrant silhouette, each showing his interpretation.

Be honest, could you draw a whole picture without once looking at the paper? 👀

Happy 23rd Birthday, Oliver! 🎉💙

Team Oliver had a wonderful time celebrating the man who tops all of their lists. The day included a cupcake tower, candles, a Cole Palmer-themed T-shirt, a Chelsea FC birthday card, and, of course, a FIFA session where Oliver played as Chelsea and won every single game! ⚽

Celebrated properly, just as he should be. We hope you had the happiest birthday, Oliver! 🧁🎂💙

Monday mornings for our team are rarely predictable. When Faye supports Ellie during her weekly visit to Lainey's Care Farm, the first job is usually to outsmart the local poultry...

The chickens here follow a strict policy of laying their eggs wherever they please, which usually means hiding them deep in the hay. Proving that egg hunts are not just for Easter, Faye and Ellie spring into action as soon as they arrive to safely recover them 🐓

It may not be the most conventional way to start a Monday, but it is certainly rewarding! Once the morning jobs were done, they fed the animals, said hello to the farm scarecrow, and headed home with a sweet treat in hand 🍦
