It was great to welcome Councillors and Clerks from Toddington, Harlington, Chalton, Streatley and Sundon Parish Councils to Parliament today.

Following a tour of the Palace this was a great opportunity to discuss local priorities and listen to the issues that are impacting communities in the Toddington ward, particularly in relation to housing and planning.

My team and I continue to work with all Parish Councils across Mid Bedfordshire and I will utilise all levers available to me as a Member of Parliament to help deliver our local priorities.

Hearing from you is important, and in addition to meeting locally, I look forward to welcoming all our Parish Councils to Parliament over the next few years.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Do your bit for Sundon Parish!

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ Please report antisocial behaviour you witness!
It may feel like nothing happens, but without community reporting, nothing is highlighted to the local authorities! Sadly, social media comments do not count statistically!

๐Ÿ“… Incident ref: BP-17052026-0175 has been logged for off-road vehicles on our highways today. Feel free to add this to your own reports to Beds Police

๐Ÿ“ฃ After being invited to meet with our local Rural Crime Action Team (RCAT) due to the recent rise in antisocial behaviour. I have been asked to remind Sundon Parish without community reporting the local authorities are unable to gauge our areas need.

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ We have been asked to encourage all members of our community to sign up to Beds Connected. This is a community messaging system covering the whole of Bedfordshire.

๐Ÿ’ฌ By registering, which is completely free, you can receive news updates, appeals, local crime information, and prevention advice directly to your email. You will also have the opportunity to take part in quarterly surveys, ensuring your voice is heard on matters that are important within our local area.

๐Ÿš” RCATโ€™s mission statement, the Beds Connected QR code and poster will be displayed on the Parish Notice Board. Alongside the agenda for our Parish Council AGM, which will take place on 20 May at 7:30pm at Sundon Village Hall.

A BIG thank you to the Beds Rural Crime Action Team!

It was a privilege to spend time this evening with the RCAT team and see first-hand the dedication of officers tackling the challenges faced by rural communities like ours.

Working together as a community is the key to positively addressing crime across our parish.

Reporting community concerns is paramount to highlighting our areas challenges, and has just become easier with Beds Connected! More information to follow in a separate post.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Community update & request for support

โš ๏ธ Following concerns raised by residents about increasing antisocial behaviour at Sundon Pits, your parish council has escalated these issues to our local councillor and MP.

๐Ÿš“ We have received assurances of an increased police presence and coordinated action to ensure Central Bedfordshire Council installs a durable, tamperโ€‘proof gate with controlled access limited to authorised users.

๐Ÿšง CBCโ€™s Assets Team has also confirmed that the 11 agricultural plots within the site have no rights to use the gate, the access road, or to operate any commercial activity.

๐Ÿ“We have further asked CBC to assess and strengthen site boundaries so access remains limited to designated public footpaths.

๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ Community engagement is vital!

๐Ÿ“… The newly assigned police contact for our parish will be attending the Sundon Parish AGM on 20th May at 7:30pm, held at Sundon Village Hall, Streatley Road.

โ€ผ๏ธ Residents are encouraged to attend and raise any concerns directly.

๐Ÿ“ง If you have experienced or recorded misuse of this area, please share details with the parish clerk: [email protected]

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ These can then be passed to the Rural Policing Team. Please note, this channel is not monitored 24/7 so any immediate risks should be reported directly to 999/101.

MESSAGE FROM CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL

Recycling in Central Bedfordshire is about to get a whole lot easier .

From 30 March 2026, Central Bedfordshire residents will be able to recycle glass bottles and jars using their dry recycling bins/bags, and new weekly food waste collections for flats mean even more households can take part in recycling food waste.

This is a major step forward in making recycling easier and more consistent for residents in accordance with our Waste Strategy, which supports the Council's environmental ambitions.

These service improvements are in line with the national Simpler Recycling reforms introduced by the UK Government. The legislation requires councils to have weekly food waste collections for all households and ensure a consistent range of recyclable materials is collected from homes.

What this means for residents

From 30 March 2026:

? Glass bottles and jars can be recycled at home using existing dry recycling bins or sacks

? Weekly food waste collections will be introduced for residents living in flats, ensuring all households can recycle food waste

? Changes to some bin lorry routes will need to take place to increase capacity for the new recycling service. All affected households will receive a letter with plenty of notice and updated collection dates will be published on the council's website before the changes take effect.

Our website will provide all the relevant information, and will be kept up to date at
