We've just learned that David's funeral is at 2.15pm on Monday September 21 in the Tithe Barn of Usk Castle. Sorry for any confusion in earlier posts.

Many of you will doubtless already be aware that David Collard died recently. David was a committee member of UCF from the very start, only standing down at the 2026 AGM. David was an Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Bath, but his range of interests went well beyond his academic discipline.
In particular, he will be remembered locally for his many contributions to Usk and the surrounding community, with an enthusiasm and commitment that seemed bottomless.
Many will remember his enthusiastic support for Alfred Russel Wallace and indeed, David was present at the recent Alfred Wallace Day at the Sessions House. It was largely due to David that ARW's bust now adorns Twyn Square. At UCF, he acted as Secretary for many years and was also a speaker at several of our History Days. A writer of repute, he contributed to The Alfred Russel Wallace Companion, published by Chicago University Press, as well as writing 'King Henry V11', a play about the first Tudor king. We shall miss him dearly.
