Looking to build your communication skills or exploring a career in support work?

Our Introduction to Counselling, Helping Skills and Theory course is starting in November!

We are pleased to offer two different weekly slots to fit around your schedule:

📅 Monday afternoons

📅 Friday mornings

⏱️ Duration: 3 hours a week over 7 weeks

📍 Location: Manygates Adult Education Centre

Fee remission is available for individuals on certain means tested benefits or individuals working, with a sole income less than £26,800

⭐️ Meet the Team ⭐️

Hello everyone! I'm Stuart, the new Curriculum and Quality Manager for Creative and Community Learning within Wakefield Adult Education Service.

Having worked in education for 18 years, one thing I've learned is that you have to genuinely enjoy working with people, and that's certainly true for me. Supporting learners, developing staff, and helping create high-quality learning experiences are aspects of the job that continue to inspire me.

Since joining Wakefield Adult Education, I've had the opportunity to meet many colleagues at Manygates and spend time with learners during the Welcome to Learning events. The warm welcome I've received has been fantastic, and I'd like to say a sincere thank you to everyone who has helped me settle into my new role. I'm looking forward to working more closely with staff and building strong partnerships across our communities.

•L2 Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) course
Starting: 12/01/2027 to 20/07/2027 – 24 Weeks
Day: Tuesday
Time: 1pm – 3.45pm

⭐️ Sunday's Success Story ⭐️

Me and Shabina met in English L2 and we had no idea how much we'd end up supporting each other through not only that course but Maths L1 and Maths L2 too.

We became great friends, so great that when I recieved the email inviting me to the celebration event, I immediately thought of Shabina and that I wanted her to be my plus 1.

We are 2 totally different people from totally different cultures brought together by adult education and now I value her friendship so much, 'my college bestie' .

Shabina has taught me so much about her culture (its really interesting) I ask questions all the time as I do find different religions and cultures interesting, I'm not religious as such but that dosnt change anything between us..she values me and my choices and I value hers equally. (I must have asked her 50 times how to pronounce Eid).

We keep in touch often and love sharing family updates as well as education and employment news.

We didnt just gain qualifications during our time at Manygates Adult Education Centre, we gained love, friendship and respect for 2 totally different worlds. We have pinky promised to meet up at least twice a year between our busy schedules for coffee and cake!!!

Thank you Manygates Adult Education for bringing us together!
