On Monday 22nd February, Special Constables working within Leeds North West NPT took this un-insured vehicle off the streets.

The consequences of driving without insurance can be catastrophic for you, your passengers and other motorists should an accident occur.

Please ensure that your vehicle's insurance is active & if it is due to renew soon, please do not assume it will auto-renew - some insurance companies offer this but not all of them!

Man arrested for allegedly urinating on the memorial to hero PC Keith Palmer.

The man handed himself in to police in Essex after the image was circulated in Social media.

It follows a second weekend of protests in London after the death of George Floyd.

The man is thought to have been part of a counter protest of mainly far-right suppporters who had gone to the Capital to ‘protect statues and memorials’ after the Cenotaph and a statue of Winston Churchill were defaced by BLM demonstrators last week.

PC keith Palmer was killed by a terrorist outside Westminster in March 2017.

As we come to the end of #Nationaspecialsweekend2020 we wanted to add a big thank you for everything that you have done over this weekend with duties and showcasing on FB and Twitter the remarkable work that is delivered day in and out often without any awareness by the public that we are volunteer police officers and without much recognition.

Sometimes we hear chief constables saying ‘we couldn’t have managed without you’ so just remember how important your selfless contribution is to our communities throughout the UK.

Stay safe and THANK YOU.

The West Yorkshire Police Band

Thank you for doing this.

This year sees the 76th Anniversary of D-Day when Allied Forces landed on the beaches in Northern France to help bring an end to the Second World War. Each year, on 6th June, local French communities remember the sacrifice which was made by so many, joined by families and friends of those who made that journey all those years ago.

The Volunteers of the West Yorkshire Police Band have had the immense privilege to be alongside those people who gather together on the anniversary of D-Day, to remember those who gave their lives and celebrate those who brought peace.

During this time of COVID-19 many of these Remembrance Services have been cancelled and so the Volunteers of West Yorkshire Police Band have released this short tribute on the 2020 anniversary of D-Day. The film serves as a Remembrance of all those who lost their lives as a result of D-Day, and for those who continue to serve in our armed forces working for peace, an expression of our gratitude.

Falling in National Volunteers Week, we dedicate this film to all those who volunteer, in whatever way, to help make life better for all. In particular we would like to pay tribute to former Chief Superintendent Bill Henderson who sadly died earlier this year. Bill was a dedicated and respected police officer who served his country and community for many years and was also active in many charitable organisations. Bill was a great friend of the West Yorkshire Police Band and we will miss him dearly.

Thank you for volunteering your time as a special constable.

This is SC Callum Dyer. He became a Special Constable in Wakefield District at the beginning of April.

In the short time he’s been volunteering he’s made a few arrests, attended a sudden death and helped find more than 300 stolen goods.

SC Dyer says: ‘The first few weeks have been amazing. It’s been challenging to juggle my day job with my volunteering. It is great to be helping my community at this time.’

West Yorkshire Police made young Allan's dream of becoming a Police Officer come true. He helped stop some rioters, raided a house and even arrested a villain. (all mocked up for him of course).

Good to hear the Leader of the House, the Rt Hon Jacob Rees Mogg MP praise the work that Special Police Officers in answer to my question.

They do so much for our communities alongside our brilliant Police. Easy to forget they are volunteers. ‬

I enjoyed my ride out with the police team last week. Gave me lots to think about too.

I’m checking to see if I can attend the police debate Jacob mentioned.
