🚧🚙WARD ROADWORKS AND REPAIRS 🚗🚧

Great to already seeing the teams cracking on with works in our ward on the Ponte Road, might be the first so far but far from the last that will be worked on in the ward 💪🏼🙌🏻

🚧🛣️ In July we've been working across the district, improving roads, pavements and drainage. Here is a snapshot of some of the works:

- Carriageway resurfacing works in Castleford, Pontefract and Hemsworth
- Footway improvements in Ossett, Castleford and Ferrybridge
- Drainage repair works in South Kirkby, Normanton and Stanley

We know roadworks, temporary traffic lights and road closures can be inconvenient. But they are important for keeping our roads, pavements and drainage systems in good condition. We always try to complete works as quickly as possible and minimise disruption wherever we can.🚦

🇬🇧🩵 100 days of Reform Wakefield 🩵🇬🇧

When we were elected we did so on the promise of change, common sense and fighting for our residents and our district.

So far we are already seeing major change, be it cleaning up our city centre, bringing common sense into our councils policies and institution of schemes to improve our high streets and starting a comprehensive programme of road renewal and repair.

Going forward we will continue to build on this, to ensure that the faith placed in us by our residents is upheld, seeing our programmes rolled out across the district and wards like Hemsworth receiving their long overdue fair share!

As part of our Reform UK Wakefield administrations push to grow, nurture and support our invaluable local businesses from September at the centrally located Wakefield X and by visits to premises as requested every Thursday.

As a party one of our core tenets is to support our fantastic local businesses, help them expand and offer networking, help and advice to ensure their continued success as part of a thriving district.

🌻HEMSWORTH LIBRARY SUMMER FAYRE 🌻

Great to get down to the wonderful summer Fayre at the library today as a district council team, amazing to see such a broad range of local arts and crafts alongside all the families that came to enjoy.

🌟📘✏️📚RESULTS DAY 2026 📚✏️📘🌟

A massive congratulations today to all the students in our District who have received their long awaited A level results today and continue to do us all proud!

As portfolio holder for Children and Young people it’s great to see so many young people of such talent and skill who will now begin the next key stage of their education and lives.

As an administration we are putting an emphasis on making sure not only the academic high achievers but also those who suit and thrive in different pathways are accommodated and their progression facilitated in our wonderful city, working with businesses and partners to build skills and enterprise to ensure our young people have a city to begin their careers and thrive in!

🏡HIGHFIELDS DEVELOPMENT Q&A🏡

Today myself and Cllr. Chambers have spent the afternoon at the community centre in Hemsworth ensuring residents are listened to and having their questions answered surrounding the proposed Highfields development. One of the first things we did as ward councillors was ask developers to come and meet residents, listen to their views and make sure transparency is always available.

Thank you to Persimmon Homes & Royal Pilgrim for sending your representatives down and thank you for all the residents who came today and spoke with us, as your district councillors our first responsibility is listening to you.

Special thanks to HTC (and their staff) for use of the facility and Ian and Carol from HTC listening to and advocating for residents.

🏡🏛️Ward Councillor Update🏛️🏡

Hello all!

Hope you’re well!

Just a quick update on a couple things we’ve but upto in the ward, obviously far from an exhaustive list, we were meant to deliver an update to meeting of the HTC but due to some unfortunate circumstances we could not.

As always, as your district councillors in the ward we are constantly fighting for a better Hemsworth for us all, advocating for you and listening to your concerns.

Great today to get down to see the amazing HAF provision at St. Paul’s School in Alverthorpe run by the incredibly hardworking and dedicated team there headed up by Mick from HMP Not-4-Me.
