โœ… One of our most wanted offenders in the cells โ€“ after we found him playing a game of hide and seek in a cupboard ๐Ÿ‘€

Weโ€™ve been carrying out numerous enquiries to locate the suspect, who we were looking to find in connection with a serious assault and on recall to prison.

๐Ÿ•ต And following intelligence obtained from those enquiries, we narrowed down our search to the Hendon area of Sunderland.

๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผ Last night, our specialist Serious Violence Disruption Unit (SVDU) forced entry to a flat and found the suspect hiding in a cupboard in the kitchen area.

โŒ The man โ€“ in his 40s โ€“ is now in the cells and will soon be transported back to prison.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ”Ž Stolen car located within just 10 minutes of officers being alerted.

Last night at around 10:30pm, we received a report from a member of public that his car had been stolen from outside his address in the Eden Vale area of Sunderland.

Our Fi****ms Support Unit were hot off the mark in search of the stolen vehicle, with CCTV locating the vehicle within 10 minutes on Newcastleโ€™s Quayside.

Following a short pursuit, the car was brought to a stop with the driver of the vehicle trying to flee before being detained by officers.

The man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and remains in police custody.

APPEAL | Do you recognise this man?

We're hoping to trace him as we investigate an assault on Groat Market in Newcastle city centre.

It happened shortly before midnight on Friday, March 28, where a man had been punched in the face by another man.

The victim, aged in his late teens, fell to the ground and lost three teeth โ€“ which required hospital treatment.

A number of enquiries have been ongoing since the report was first made, including a recent review of images and footage available.

๐Ÿ“ธ The man pictured was believed to have been in the area at the time, and may be able to help us.

WANTED | Have you seen Newcastle man, Dylan Marshall?

The 20-year-old is wanted on a recall to prison and is evading arrest.

We've been searching for Marshall, who has links across the city including to Arthur's Hill and Fenham.

โš–๏ธ A man has been jailed for two robberies in Newcastle โ€“ after a public appeal revealed his identity.

The alarm was raised in the early hours of July 16 and 18, when two women reported they had been targeted in the city centre.

On both occasions, the victims had their handbags snatched by an unknown male on Westgate Road who fled on foot, leaving them shaken.

One of the women sadly lost a sentimental piece of jewellery gifted by her late family member โ€“ a gold bracelet with diamond and ruby stones, which is still missing.

๐ŸŽž๏ธ Our dedicated neighbourhood team trawled CCTV footage and released an image of the suspect to the public who was not known to police.

We received a string of messages and tip-offs identifying him as first-time offender, 38-year-old Daniel Lee.

He was arrested at his home on Daisyfield Way in Great Park, and the evidence weโ€™d gathered left him little option but to admit his guilt.

This was a brilliant outcome โ€“ and thanks to the bravery of the women and with help from the public โ€“ justice has been secured ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿ’™John Hardyโ€™s family have paid a heartfelt tribute to him after his killer was sentenced.

Brenda Heslop was today jailed for life with a minimum of 20 years at Newcastle Crown Court. She had previously admitted murdering Mr Hardy after fatally stabbing him in November 2024.

Mr Hardyโ€™s family said: โ€œOur lovely brother John was tragically taken from us and is truly missed every day by all his family and friends. We live with this nightmare every day and our lives are changed forever.

โ€œWe would like to thank his friends and neighbours who were there at the time and who went to his aid to give him comfort in his final moments.

โ€œWe would also like to thank Northumbria Police for their ongoing support and keeping us updated throughout this devastating and sad time in our lives.

โ€œWe know that todayโ€™s sentence will not bring John back but we hope it will give us some closure. We sincerely hope that the perpetrator of this horrific crime takes the time to reflect on what she has done and the impact it has had on our family.โ€

This is the moment killer Brenda Heslop was arrested after she had fatally attacked her neighbour John Hardy.

On the evening of November 11 last year, we attended a report of a disturbance on Sceptre Place, in the Elswick area of Newcastle.

Mr Hardy, who was 68, was found to have sustained serious injuries consistent with being caused by a bladed article before staggering back to the home of a neighbour. He sadly died a short time later.

Heslop previously pleaded guilty to murder. The 63-year-old was back before Newcastle Crown Court today where she was told she will serve a life sentence with a minimum of 20 years.

โ›ฑ๏ธ Operation Coastwatch is going from strength to strength as alongside our partners we continue to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in North Tyneside ๐Ÿค

๐Ÿš“ We carry out proactive work to prevent disorder during periods of warmer weather through extra patrols, preventative work at Metro stations and engagement with beach wardens.

North Tyneside Council's Community Protection Team patrol beaches while Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service identify areas where nuisance fires are likely to be started.

๐Ÿ“‰ In comparison with 2024 new figures show that from the beginning of May to the end of last month, we recorded significant falls in the following areas:

๐Ÿ”ฝ Reports of anti-social behaviour down 41 per cent
๐Ÿ”ฝ Reports of serious violence and criminal damage both down by 15 per cent
๐Ÿ”ฝ Reports of vehicle crime fell 13 per cent

Peek-a-boo, we see you ๐Ÿ‘€

โŒ Three suspects have been arrested as we investigate a series of burglary and theft offences across Gateshead.

We received several reports of offenders attempting to break into properties and vehicles in the Sunniside area shortly after 1am on Sunday, October 12.

Two boys, aged 15 and 17, were quickly arrested within hours of the first reports being made and an 18-year-old man was arrested on Friday ๐Ÿ‘ฎ

Theyโ€™ve all been released on bail pending further enquiries.

It's all thanks to the teamwork between members of the public, officers, and our drone unit, which acted as our eyes in the sky. ๐Ÿค

Nine people are currently in our cells following reports of linked disorder in South Tyneside.

๐Ÿ“ Yesterday morning, we received multiple reports of vehicle and property damage across the Jarrow and Whiteleas areas.

It was reported the windows of several properties had been put out using weapons, and that cars had been driven into an address causing damage.

We also later received a report of an altercation having taken place on Benton Road in South Shields โ€“ with a number of men reported to have been fighting in the road.

๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ In response to the reports, just after 2am this morning, we carried out a co-ordinated operation to conduct arrests.

As a result, five men โ€“ aged between 34 and 56 โ€“ and a woman in her 30s โ€“ were arrested.

A haul of offensive weapons was also discovered within the addresses, including axes, loaded crossbows and machetes.

๐Ÿšจ Following a further report this morning of a vehicle being damaged in East Boldon, an additional three men โ€“ aged between 22 and 48 โ€“ were also arrested.

All nine people are currently in custody.

We want to speak to him in connection with an assault at South Gosforth Metro Station in Newcastle.

At around 9.45pm on Saturday, May 3, it was reported a teenage boy was approached by a man on the platform after leaving a train.

He made verbal threats before assaulting him, and left the area after Nexus staff intervened.

The victim, aged in his late teens, sustained bruising and cuts to his head which required hospital treatment.

๐Ÿ“ธ The man pictured is believed to have been in the area at the time, and may be able to help us.
