💥 WARNING DISTRESSING IMAGES💥

Now the hotspots have been damped down, and the rain helping us with it. Our team have been out surveying the area of the wildfire 🔥

In amongst the burnt heather patches and charred grass areas, our team have found dead adders, amphibians, a badger skeleton and antlers.

The fire burnt for that long and got that hot, it fractured the fallow antler and nearly turned it to dust!

We would like to thank the rangers from Shrugbrough Hall National Trust, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue for assisting, preventing the spread and ultimately stopping the fire! Thank you!

Also a masisve thank you to our Cannock Chase Ranger team and site staff. Who all worked very hard, day and night to asist the fire crews, and helps stop it from spreading 🚒🛻

Please avoid the area, whilst the fire crews, police and rangers assist with the fire!

Brindley Road and Marquis Drive are currently closed to drivers while firefighters attend the scene of a significant fire on Cannock Chase.

People are urged to avoid the area.

Its taken us a few days to post about this, as all our site staff and rangers have been out transporting fire fighters, working with the fire crews to stop the fire spreading and dampening down hotspots and edges 🔥

We do not know at this stage what caused the fire, on a large area of Cannock Chase. However we are urging everyone to steer clear of the area for the next few weeks. The ground temperature is still very high and parts of the area is still flaring up!

Firefighters and site staff are still on site dampening areas down and extinguishing flare ups when they start 🔥

We would like to give a massive thank you to all fire services involved. Over the past 4 days we have had crews from Leek, Ipstones, Rugeley, Uttoxeter, Cannock, Wolverhampton, Stoke and more! Each and everyone of them is a hero, in our eyes! Helping to save Cannock Chase from what could have burnt an even larger area, spreading to the other side of the Sherbrook Staffordshire Fire and Rescue

We would also like to thank our site team, who not only helped but stepped up and actively helped in saving Cannock Chase from a worse fate.

The work is not over yet, we will monitor the area very closely, fire crews will remain on site till at least Monday. Our staff will continue to dampen areas down and monitor for flare ups, to reduce the risk of it spreading.
