National Trust Corfe Castle A thousand-year-old royal castle shaped by warfare, located in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck. Spot the ‘murder holes’ and count the arrow loops.
(1321)

A perfect day out for family fun, or somewhere to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of its history.
Explore one of Britain’s most iconic survivors of the English Civil War, partially demolished in 1646 by the Parliamentarians. A favourite haunt for adults and children alike, you can’t fail to be captivated by these romantic castle ruins with breathtaking views across Purbeck. Discover 1000 years of the castle’s history as a royal palace and fortress. With fallen walls and secret places, there are tales of treachery and treason around every corner. Feel history come to life and see the wildlife that has set up home here. See both traditional and modern conservation techniques come together ensuring the castle lives on for future generations. Our Facebook house rules

We want our page to be a place where people can share how they feel about the National Trust and Corfe Castle, and talk about their experiences in a fun environment. We welcome feedback – both positive and negative. It helps us to learn and grow. These house rules aim to ensure everyone can enjoy themselves while they’re here. We ask you to be nice and polite to one another – you almost always are! – and respect each other’s views and comments. We ask all users to ensure your contributions are civil, polite, tasteful and suitable for all ages. We won’t tolerate disruptive, offensive or abusive behaviour, unlawful or objectionable content. This includes any material which might be defamatory, offensive, infringing, obscene, lewd, pornographic, violent, abusive, insulting, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, blasphemous, indecent or otherwise unlawful or objectionable. It also includes any material which is aggressive, argumentative or likely to be construed as bullying. No spamming or repetition, please, nor off-topic material in subject-specific threads or areas. Moderation policy

In general, we don’t moderate posts – except on the rare occasion that someone has used offensive language or posted libellous content on our page. We have a duty to protect our staff and volunteers, so while we would be very reluctant to delete comments, our legal position is that any post containing libellous content should be removed. If an individual continues to post offensive, threatening or libellous content then we’ll be forced to block that person from the page. We won’t tolerate postings, content, or links that are racist, sexist or homophobic. We also don’t permit linking to or posting any content which endorses illegal activity, or any activities against the values of the National Trust. If you’re concerned that a posting or user content has broken any of our house rules or you’re worried about any comment or content then please send us an email to: [email protected] and let us know.

FULLY BOOKED!
We're hosting Diwali at the castle! ✨

On Sunday 25 October, from 4pm to 9pm, the castle will glow with the Festival of Lights as we celebrate Diwali together with our friends at BPC Indian Community 🪔 The evening celebrates light over darkness, hope, and the joy of coming together.

Here's what's in store:
💃 Traditional and contemporary dance, live music and storytelling
🎨 A children's zone with rangoli-making, arts and crafts, and storytelling workshops
🪔 A closing diya-lighting ceremony, with everyone invited to take part, as the castle's ruined silhouette is lit
🍛 A marketplace of Indian food stalls

To everyone joining us: we can't wait to share this special evening with you. See you at the castle ✨
