🚓 Swanage Friday Night Patrols Update 🌙

Following requests from the Police and Crime Commissioner and feedback from our local community, officers carried out targeted patrols in Swanage town last night.
Here’s a snapshot of what we got up to:

✅ Conducted a Section 23 stop and search
✅ Arrested a wanted female
✅ Carried out high-visibility ASB patrols in the requested areas
✅ Stopped a suspected drink driver – alcohol detected but the driver provided a negative (pass) reading
✅ Multiple incidents of anti-social behaviour (ASB) were identified, dealt with, and those involved were moved on

Our aim is to keep Swanage a safe and enjoyable place for everyone. These patrols will continue as part of our commitment to tackling concerns raised by the community.
If you see something that doesn’t feel right, please report it to us 👇

PREVENTING UNLICENCED EVENTS | We are aware of the significant impact unlicenced music events can have on our residents and we want to provide reassurance that we’re doing everything possible to prevent any illegal activity this bank holiday weekend.

Officers will be stepping up preventative patrols at 11 locations, which may be vulnerable to unlicenced events taking place and we’ve been working very closely with land owners and other partners such as the Ministry of Defence to strengthen security arrangements.

We would ask our communities to report unusual activity such as large groups arriving late at night or early morning to remote, industrial, rural or warehouse locations or significant convoys of vehicles or foot traffic in unusual places by calling us on 999.

We are working hard to protect our countryside and prevent any impact of anti-social behaviour on local residents. Reporting to us at the earliest opportunity gives us the best possible opportunity to respond appropriately and ensure everyone in Dorset can have a good safe summer.

APPEAL | We are investigating an assault in Wareham and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward and seeking to trace a potential witness.

It was reported that at around 6.45pm on Saturday 25 April 2026 a woman aged in her 20s was assaulted by a man who was known to her in the area of Shatters Hill.

The victim sustained serious injuries as a result of the assault.

Detective Constable Ashley Hargreaves-Smith, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this matter and offer support to the victim.

“From our enquiries, we now understand there was an older man with a young child who was walking along North Walls and Mill Lane toward the bottom of Shatters Hill. We believe this man may have witnessed the incident and are keen to speak to him and take his account.

“I would also like to hear from anyone with further information that might assist our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55260059533. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online using its website or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.

APPEAL | We are investigating a bilking incident at the Shell garage in Bere Regis after a motorist made off without paying for fuel.

At around 2.25pm on Thursday 9 April 2026 a man filled up a white Renault Trafic van with £140-worth of diesel and left without making any attempts to pay.

The van’s front and back numberplates were both obscured with mud.

Further enquiries have established that the van has been frequently travelling in the Weymouth and Portland areas.

We are now issuing images of a man we would like to identify and would ask anyone who recognises him to please come forward.
