📢 Proposed Housing Development off Chitterne Road (~60 Dwellings)
Over 50 households have already completed our community survey, with an overwhelming 75% opposing the current scheme or demanding major modifications.
⏰ FINAL DEADLINE TO TAKE PART: MONDAY 12TH OCTOBER AT 12:00 MIDDAY
Under the new 31 October 2026 planning laws, major applications are decided by council officers behind closed doors unless we provide date-stamped local evidence to trigger an open public hearing (Gateway Test). Every single survey response and photograph strengthens our legal case!

Based on UK & EU ESG standards, the Parish Council and community establish these non-negotiable requirements for developer negotiations.

Chitterne Road / East Farm housing proposal
Information for residents
Codford Parish Council has prepared a community briefing about the proposal for approximately 60 homes on land off Chitterne Road and East Farm.
The briefing explains the current stage of the process, the Parish Council’s role, the main planning considerations and how residents can provide relevant local evidence.

⏰ The developer’s current pre-application consultation closes at 5:00 pm on Monday 12 October 2026.
Comments submitted now go to the developer as part of its pre-application consultation. If a formal planning application is submitted later, Wiltshire Council will open a separate statutory consultation, and residents will need to submit comments again through the official planning process.
Residents with dated photographs or records concerning flooding, groundwater, traffic conditions or road-safety incidents are encouraged to contact the Parish Council or use the community evidence portal:

A36 Safety Tree Removals

We’re writing to inform you of some upcoming essential tree removal work on the A36 between Bathwick and Ower.
We’ll work overnight from October 2026 to January 2027, Sunday to Thursday, 20:00 to 06:00.

What to expect
To carry out our work safely, we’ll have full closures with fully signed diversion routes in place.
The road will be open as normal throughout the day.
Access to frontages and emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout.

Please follow diversion signs and not satnavs.
Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys.

Dates may change at short notice due to poor weather conditions or operational reasons. If we’re unable to complete our work as planned, we may need to continue beyond the dates stated above.
