The Nepal Cup, first presented in 1948 by His Royal Highness Maharaja Mohan Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana, remains one of the Brigade of Gurkhas’ most prestigious sporting competitions, bringing together units across the Brigade to promote teamwork, camaraderie, and cohesion.

This year, GCT competed against GSPS in the group stage before facing the Gurkha Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (GARRC) in the quarter-final at RMAS Sandhurst.

Throughout the tournament, the GCT team displayed outstanding determination, resilience, and teamwork. Although the results did not go in their favour, the players remained disciplined, committed, and positive, reflecting the professionalism and values of the Brigade of Gurkhas.The Nepal Cup once again provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen relationships across the Brigade and develop teamwork through competitive sport. GCT’s performance was a credit to the unit, its supporters, and all those involved.

Well done to all players, coaches, and supporters for representing GCT with pride.

On 20 May 2026, Gurkha Company Tavoleto visited HQBG in Sandhurst, Camberley. They received welfare, financial and funding brief from HQBG. GCT CSM briefed HQBG personnel on current update and progress of the Coy.

Visit was very informative and provided valuable insight about the support system that HQBG has in place for the Brigade of Gurkhas.

The visit was led by Cpl Bimal Rai under the supervision of WO2 Ravin Rai, GCT CSM in collaboration with Capt Shiva Kumar Rai, KGOO HQBG.

*FAREWELL TO OC GCT MAJ. SOM THULUNG*

A memorable chapter concluded as the Company bid farewell to OC GCT, Maj Som Thulung (2 RGR), on 30 April 26, marking the end of his distinguished 31 years of regular military service. His departure not only signifies years of dedication but also the enduring impact he had on all ranks who served with him.

The Company gathered in the Messing Hut to honour the occasion with a farewell company messing. In a special presentation, the CSM GCT presented Maj Som Thulung with a memento on behalf of the Company, acknowledging his leadership and commitment. He reciprocated by gifting the Company a memento that symbolised his lasting connection to the unit.

The evening was filled with laughter, reflection, and camaraderie. Maj Som Thulung shared stories from his remarkable career that inspired and motivated everyone, especially the younger soldiers. A delicious meal prepared by the Company enhanced the warm, respectful atmosphere.

As the evening drew to a close, it was clear that Maj Som Thulung leaves a lasting legacy of leadership, humility, and dedication that will continue to inspire all ranks.

EX TAVOLETO WARRIOR 26 (Ex TW26)

It was a platoon and section level training exercise conducted at the Salisbury Plain Training Area from 27 to 30 April 2026. The exercise aimed to enhance the operational proficiency of personnel from Gurkha Company Tavoleto (GCT) by developing and practising the Battlecraft Syllabus (BCS) at training level Bravo. This ensured that essential soldiering skills were maintained and refined to a high standard.

Ex TW26 provided junior commanders with valuable opportunities to undertake command appointments within a realistic tactical combat environment This experience was crucial for building leadership confidence and decision-making under pressure. This was the only protected training period for the company during the year. The exercise was vital for personnel to train effectively, maintain their competence, and update their ITR currency. This ensured that all members of GCT remained fully prepared and operationally ready.

The exercise was overseen and conducted by WO2 Manish Gurung, who ensured that training objectives were met and that the exercise ran smoothly throughout its duration.

GCT gathered to bid farewell to Rfn Sanam Gharti Magar (MT Platoon) and Rfn Narayan Jugjali (Asslt Pnr), who have both successfully completed their two-year assignment in GCT.

Rfn Sanam is departing to 1 RGR after being selected for promotion to LCpl, while Rfn Narayan is returning to 2 RGR.

The GCT Pariwar would like to wish them both all the very best and good luck in their future endeavours.

Cpl Anjan Tumbahangphe of Gurkha Company Tavoleto (GCT), CAMS, has successfully completed RSAS Course 2503 as the top student.

Throughout the demanding 10-week course, he demonstrated exceptional competence across all aspects of instruction. His outstanding defence writing and ability to produce clear, concise, and effective administrative instructions set him apart. He also showed strong tactical proficiency in manoeuvring and establishing the Battle Group Headquarters, highlighting his command awareness and planning ability.

His professionalism, dedication, and performance reflect great credit on himself and uphold the high standards and proud traditions of GCT.

Ex CAMS Ride 26 – Mission Accomplished

Six personnel from Gurkha Company Tavoleto proudly and successfully completed Ex CAMS Ride 26, led by Sgt Deviram Rai. Taking on the iconic coast-to-coast “Way of the Roses” route, the team covered an impressive distance of 170 miles from Morecambe to Bridlington by mountain bike.

This demanding expedition pushed both physical and mental limits, requiring exceptional endurance, strong leadership, and unwavering teamwork to overcome every challenge along the way.

CAMS FITNESS CHALLENGE 2026:

The CAMS Fitness Challenge 2026 was successfully conducted on 6 March 2026, organised by Cpl Bishnu Magar and 2IC Rfn Sanam Gharti Magar, with strong attendance from Headquarters staff including the RSM, Adjutant, and CSM. The event promoted physical fitness and esprit de corps across the CAMS, with Rfn Saroj Basnet (MT Platoon) placing second runner-up, Rfn Sangyoj Rai (Pioneer Platoon) first runner-up, and Rfn Karan Gurung (Signal Platoon) as overall winner. The event concluded with a company messing organised by Rfn Prachanda Pratap Gurung and a farewell programme for outgoing GCT members—Cpl Bishnu Magar, CSgt Ganesh Gurung, and LCpl Sudip Rai, marking a successful and cohesive occasion for CAMS.

Proud moment for GCT, CAMS

On 21 March 2026, four of our soldiers took on the PARAS’ 10 in Colchester, competing in the challenging 10-mile run.

A massive congratulations to Rfn Karan Gurung for an outstanding performance, finishing 1st place overall.

The team was led by Rfn Sangyog Rai and expertly managed by Cpl Ganesh Chand.
