Have your say on the Big Conversation on Care!

Adult social care supports thousands of people across Warrington, helping older people, disabled people and those with long-term health conditions to live independently, safely and with dignity.

Whether through personal experience, caring for a loved one or working in the care sector, many residents will have insights that can help inform future improvements.

Led by the Independent Commission on Adult Social Care, chaired by Baroness Louise Casey, the Big Conversation on Care is gathering views from people who draw on care and support, unpaid carers, care professionals and the wider public.

The feedback collected will help inform recommendations to Government on how adult social care can be reformed to better meet the needs of current and future generations.

💙 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2026
Today we support the fight against human trafficking and modern slavery.

This year’s theme, “Trapped Behind the Scam”, shines a light on people who are recruited through fake job opportunities and trafficked into online scam operations, where they are forced to commit fraud under coercion and control.

Human trafficking can take many forms, including:
▪ Child exploitation
▪ Criminal exploitation
▪ Labour exploitation
▪ Sexual exploitation
▪ Forced criminality and online scams

Learn the signs. Ask questions. Share concerns.

If you are worried someone may be a victim of trafficking or modern slavery:

Help is available for young people all year round, including the summer holidays.

Remind them where they can report online sexual abuse⬇️

Parents and carers, as children and young people get ready to enjoy the long summer holidays, please take a few moments to talk to them about staying safe and making good choices.

🔥 Deliberately setting fires is a criminal offence and can have devastating consequences for people, wildlife and local communities.

🌊 Stay out of open water. Rivers, lakes, canals and reservoirs can be much more dangerous than they look. Cold water shock, strong currents and hidden hazards put lives at risk.

🚗 For older teenagers and young adults, stay safe in and around vehicles. Remember the : Speeding, Mobile phone use, Not wearing a seatbelt, Driving under the influence, Careless driving.

We want everyone to have a fun, enjoyable and safe summer. Hopefully you won’t need us, but if there is an emergency, dial 999.

Supporting older people experiencing domestic abuse relies on the skill, care, and commitment volunteers and practitioners bring every day.

To mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Dewis Choice has created two short films exploring how conversations about domestic abuse can begin.

• 'Space to Tell' shares an older woman’s experience of what made it possible to disclose;

• 'The Power of Asking' focuses on how practitioners can support these conversations safely and sensitively.

Together, they offer practical insight, grounded in lived experience, into what helps someone feel able to share and how small moments can make a real difference.
