THE BOROUGH OF WARRINGTON (PARTRIDGE CLOSE, BIRCHWOOD) (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING)
TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, the Council intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Partridge Close outside property numbers 28 to 32.
The Order will be effective from 26th October 2026 for 3 days, between 9:30am and 2:30pm, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The closure is required to allow for Openreach to install a new service connection.

Birchwood Repair Cafe is back on THIS SATURDAY 🥳 - 19th September 10am - 1pm (check in by 12.30pm)

NEVER BEEN TO BIRCHWOOD REPAIR CAFÉ BEFORE?

It’s very straightforward. Bring along an item that needs repairing and we’ll meet you as you arrive, and help you check it in at our reception desk. Then, when a repairer is free, you’ll sit with them while they take a look at it.
You don’t need to know what’s wrong with it. You don’t need to know anything about repairing things. That’s what our repairers are there to help with. But if you’re interested, your repairer will explain what they’re doing as they go along. You might even pick up a few useful tips for next time.
We can’t promise that everything can be repaired, but we’ll do our best to find out what’s wrong and get it working again - always free of charge. And while donations are welcome, they’re not essential.
Hope to see you between 10am and 1pm on Saturday 19 September.

WARRINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(2)

BIRCHWOOD WAY, BIRCHWOOD, WARRINGTON

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, with effect from Wednesday 16th September 2026, for a period not exceeding 21 days, Birchwood Way, from its junction with Moss Gate to the M62 junction 11, will be closed to vehicular traffic.

The closure will be in place between the hours of 9.00pm and 5.00am, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.

The alternative route will be via Birchwood Way, Woolston Grange Avenue, M6, M62 and vice versa.

The reason for the emergency closure is to allow for essential bridge joint works to be carried out to the M62 junction 11bridge.

This event is FREE 🚒

REMINDER | Our free fire station open day is taking place on Saturday 12 September from 11am-3pm, with a SEN hour taking place from 10am-11am.

Our Maintenance Team have informed us of a fuel spillage near the BP Roundabout towards the Fire Station on Ordnance Avenue. Please use caution or consider taking an alternative route around Birchwood when driving as the road is incredibly slippy. Our office is currently reporting this to the relevant authority.

SUNDAY 23RD AUGUST 2026 (8:00am to 1:00pm)

By virtue of the powers given in that behalf by the Town Police Clauses Act 1847, and by order of the Council:

I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that on the occasion of the above mentioned event, no cart, carriage, motor car, lorry or other vehicle (excepting vehicles taking part in the event, Police, Ambulance and Fire Service vehicles and Mail Carts) and no horses or other animal be allowed to remain in or travel along or over any of the undermentioned streets between the hours of 8:00am and 1:00pm on Sunday 23rd August 2026 viz:

Dewhurst Road Benson Road to Admirals Road.
Admirals Road Dewhurst Road to Ordnance Avenue.
Ordnance Avenue Oakwood Gate to eastern junction with Admirals Road.
Cross Lane (westbound traffic) Warrington Road to Lady Lane.
Lords Lane Locking Stumps Lane to Redvales Court.
Birchwood Boulevard Its Entire length.

Bicycles and Tricycles are included in the term "vehicle" and must not be ridden through any of the above streets during the hours specified. Any person wilfully acting in contravention of the above order will be liable to a penalty not exceeding £400.

The restrictions will only be in place as and when the signs are in place on site and access will be under the control of the event organiser for the duration of the event.

Birchwood Town Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) to manage and oversee the Council's financial administration.

This statutory role is central to ensuring the Council's finances are managed in accordance with local government legislation and best practice.

Working closely with the Town Clerk, you will:

✅ Manage and oversee the Council's financial affairs

✅ Support effective financial planning and budgeting

✅ Ensure compliance with local government legislation and regulations

✅ Assist with governance, audit and financial reporting requirements

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience in financial administration and accounting

• Has an understanding of local government finance and procedures

• Ideally holds the CiLCA qualification and has a sound understanding of local authority organisation and management

VPX is bringing four incredible days of free family fun to Warrington this August 🎉

Every Wednesday in August from 11am until 4pm, there will be children’s entertainment and a variety of activities, including sports, creative workshops, live music, and games for all ages.
