🎉 Today was a very special day for our library community! 🎉
Not only did we celebrate the end of National Volunteers’ Week with our very own Volunteer Party, but we also officially opened our beautiful new 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙍𝙤𝙤𝙢, which is now available for hire!
As we reflected on everything that has been achieved since taking over the stewardship of the library on 5th January, we were reminded just how incredible our volunteers are. Together, they have contributed hundreds of hours to support the library and our community. From providing a warm welcome to over 12,000 visitors, running clubs and activities, cleaning and organising spaces, moving furniture, applying for grants, and even creating a dedicated Chinese children's book section, our volunteers have truly done it all.
Today also gave us the opportunity to recognise and thank Andy from Equinix and his dad, who generously gave their time and talents to decorate our new Forest Room. Equinix kindly donated Andy’s time during the working week and has also match-funded his volunteer hours. We are incredibly grateful for their support.
🌿 The Forest Room is a calm, nature-inspired space designed to provide a welcoming and relaxing environment. It is ideal for:
• Tutoring sessions
• Small meetings (10–12 people)
• Therapy and wellbeing sessions
• Community groups and workshops
The room was officially opened by Alan Guthrie and Robert McLaren, Chair and Treasurer of Westbrook and Callands Communities Association. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Association for their generous £1,000 grant, which helped fund the room’s renovation, and for their continued support of the library over many years.
Thank you to every volunteer, supporter, donor, and community member who has helped make this possible. The library continues to thrive because of your dedication, generosity, and belief in what we can achieve together.
Thank you also to All the bless Art for providing our community art project which everyone loved. To all our volunteers for the very yummy food (including Jenirics for the scrumptious Dim Sum)
