➡️ Latest news - Join the Council to discuss Hook Recreation Ground’s solar future

Fareham Borough Council is holding a face-to-face consultation event to present proposals for the development of a solar farm installation at Hook Recreation Ground. The event forms part of the Council’s public engagement activity ahead of submitting a planning application for the scheme.

A solar farm is an area of land with rows of solar panels that generate clean electricity from sunlight. It’s a low-impact way to produce renewable energy. The proposed scheme aims to support the Council’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and increasing renewable energy generation across the Borough.

Residents are encouraged to come along, speak with the project team and planning consultants, and share their views.

The consultation event will take place on Tuesday 24 February at Victory Hall, 27 Warsash Road, Warsash (Hook Room) between 5pm and 7pm.

Residents will be able to view detailed information about the proposed solar farm, speak directly with the project team, and provide feedback to help shape the planning application. Planning consultants will also be available to answer technical queries.

This consultation forms part of a wider engagement programme. Around 60 households closest to the proposed site have been informed directly by letter, and a wider leaflet drop to approximately 1,000 homes in the area will follow in mid-February.

A dedicated consultation website will go live in early February, providing further details about the project including how to submit comments online.

You still have time to pop along to St Mary's Church Hall in Church Road to view the plans for a new care home off Lockswood Road. The plans are on view until 7pm today. The proposal replaces the existing application for 27 homes and is a first class proposal taking appearance bio diversity and access into account.

Nutrient neutrality: Anyone remember this? Seems like some want compliance with it to be abolished.

Angela Rayner has been accused of stalling the development of 44,000 new homes by defending environmental red tape inherited from Brussels. The Housing Secretary is under pressure over the Government’s defence of nutrient neutrality rules in a Supreme Court case that will begin in a fortnight. Hou...

Whilst I'm on the subject of animal cruelty, I've just seen the video of Charlotte Dujardin whipping her horse whilst the person videoing it laughed. I couldn't watch the full video but if this is how dressage horses are trained, then the sport should be banned. This wasn't just "an error of judgement". I suspect this happens all of the time. Appalling treatment from so called animal lovers.

Once again it upset me this morning to see a very hot looking dog being taken for a bike ride in this weather. His tongue was hanging out and had no chance of stopping to rest.

If you were cycling at around 09.15 this morning on the Little Abshot Road with a dog on a lead, can you please walk, not even run, with him instead.

I've mentioned this before and my post was supported by a local vet who pointed out that naturally dogs like to stop and sniff. He agreed this is a far from ideal way of exercising a dog.

Lib Dems only need a 3% swing to win the GE in Hamble Valley which is Warsash's new parliamentary constituency. This was a small team out with our excellent Lib Dem candidate Prad Bains yesterday.
