Come along to Chedham's Yard in Wellesbourne this Saturday and learn all you need to know about hedge laying. Now admittedly, for most of us, we probably don't need to know that much. However, this is surely an interesting skill that few of us see in action. Brian will be with us tell us all about the importance of maintaining the skills and specialist tools involved. He will be demonstrating on a small scale and you can have a go yourself.

You can also have one of our guides tell you interesting facts and stories about our 200 year old wheelwright shed and forge and the Chedham's families who worked here. Should any of the facts prove to be not very interesting then please let us know and we won't tell them next week. Our resident wood turners can be found in their shed and you can buy their turnings in the visitor centre - at exceptionally low prices. We have low price plants too.

You can get drinks and cake in our cafe too.
And there is a mouse trail for the kids with a FREE prize!
And entry to the yard is FREE!

With all of that to enjoy you just have to come.

See you on Saturday between 11 and 4pm (last entry 3pm).

This week, at Chedham's Yard in Wellesbourne, Warwickshire Stitchers will demonstrate the art of ‘visible mending’, using upcycled fabrics and embroidery to extend the life of perhaps your favourite jeans. Come and be inspired to have a go.

We will be open on Saturday from 11 to 4pm, last entry 3pm. Entry is free.

You can also wander around the yard where you will find tools and equipment used by 5 generations of Chedham's making and repairing carts and agricultural machinery. They started there in 1823 and when it closed in 1966 all the tools were just left in place.

We also have a visitors center where you can get light refreshments and watch our woodturners in action.

On Saturday at Chedham's Yard, Wellesbourne it will be hot - much like everywhere else in England this summer. BUT it will be a little cooler than Thursday so why not venture out for some FREE entertainment. You can come and see our 200 year old workshops and working forge kept alive by our slightly younger volunteers. You can have tours of the yard or just wander about at your leisure. Have refreshments in the cafe and be sure to see a display and Sale of Rural Pictures by John Everton.
John Everton was an active supporter of the Yard and had been involved in many tyring demonstrations with our visiting wheelwright, Robin Hill.
We will be open from 11 to 4pm last entry 3pm.

It's going to be tyring tomorrow at Chedham's Yard, Wellesbourne. Well I will be tired by the end of the day but what I really mean is we will be heating up a metal tyre in an open fire and fitting it onto a cartwheel. Loads of flames, steam and smoke. We will also be doing a formula one wheel change on one of our carts (maybe a bit slower than F1). Not forgetting the goose grease lubricant.
If that is not enough for you then we also have Peter Shadbolt's brass hubcap collection. Who knew cartwheel's had brass hubcaps and that someone had thought about collecting them. Peter is in his 90's now but still going strong and always happy to talk about them.
Don't forget the tours of the yard, cakes in the cafe and wood turning in the wood turners' shed.
We are open on Saturday from 11 to 4pm last entry 3pm.

At Chedham's Yard in Wellesbourne this coming Saturday we have William demonstrating some of his stationary engines. For those of you who saw us on Midlands Today on Wednesday William featured as our youngest volunteer. Although the men in the photo are no longer with us the Yard certainly is - and we try and keep it as it was back in the day.
Our cafe will be open and you can also see our working forge and woodturners demonstrating their skills.
We will be open from 11 to 4pm last entry 3pm
