Discover the universe from the inside of one of the UK’s best-equipped amateur observatories!

The Astronomy for Beginners Course at Clanfield Observatory is a fun and fascinating 10-week journey through space, designed for complete beginners but packed with enough depth to keep curious minds hooked.

You’ll explore everything from the history of astronomy and how telescopes work, to the secrets of stars, planets, galaxies, and the structure of the Universe itself. Along the way, you’ll learn how astronomers measure time and distance in space — and even get hands-on observing sessions using real telescopes and giant binoculars.
