Due to the hot weather, we are making some changes to the Year 5/6 Sports Day. The event will start at 9.30am and will last for approximately one hour. To ensure everyone's comfort and safety, the longer races will no longer take place.
Please note that chairs and benches will not be set out as usual. However, chairs will be available for anyone who requires one.

Dear parents/carers

Due to the hot weather we are expecting this week please note the following:

1 - Children should come into school in their summer school uniform - summer dresses for girls and short trousers and school shirts for boys (if they do not have school shorts then they can wear PE shorts or other plain dark shorts but not jean shorts please). Children should come to school with sun cream on, a full water bottle and a hat. Teachers will be encouraging the children to drink water regularly during the day.

2 - We will ensure that there are 'cool rooms' available at both break and lunchtimes for children who do not wish to go outside; we will shorten outdoor breaks if we feel it is too hot and all of our staff will be extra vigilant about sending children inside if they are too hot;

3 - We will risk assess any school trips that are due to go out over the next week or so and will postpone them if we need to. Please rest assured that if a trip goes ahead it is because we have carried out a thorough site visit and know that there is shade available.

4 - We will risk assess any sports days due to take place and will postpone them if necessary. If we decide to continue with them then we will put in one or more of the following measures as appropriate - putting up gazeebos to keep the children cool in between events; reducing the number of events; providing extra drinks breaks etc.

We are trying our best to give the children the experiences that they are enjoy at this time of year but without putting them at risk. Please assume that events such as trips and sports days are going ahead unless we tell you otherwise. As above, if these events do go ahead it will be because we have risk assessed them and put in additional measures as above.

Year 6 Residential Update

The children have just left so we should be back as planned traffic allowing.

Year 6 Residential Update

Although it rained for most of the day, no one's enthusiasm was dampened. We started the day with pancakes before everyone got out on the lake for some games on the pedalo's. Then we headed into the woods to build shelters- which was handy for today's weather; some were more waterproof than others. We're finishing our last evening with s'mores over the campfire.
The children have had a fantastic week, but are now excited to get home and see yourselves tomorrow.

Year 6 Residential Update

Another fantastic day of activities! There's been more paddle boarding and kayaking today as well as adventures on the treetop challenge. We've also developed our navigation skills on the adventure trail. Although we've had plenty of rain, somehow the sun has always shone for the activity sessions and the children are really enjoying themselves. Burgers for dinner tonight!!
