Wath upon Dearne RBL

Today the branch are out at Rotherham Hospital promoting the RBL and all that they do. At the request of the hospital we are supporting them and the Armed Forces Week. A different Military Charity has been requested each day to support their efforts. Today is the RBL turn. We are here representing all of the branches in the area and the fantastic work done by them to raise money for RBL beneficiaries.

Wath upon Dearne branch of the Royal British Legion will be holding their monthly coffee morning, this coming Saturday 27th June from 10.00am until 12 noon in the St James tea rooms at the side of Wath Parish Church. Come along and grab a bacon butty, a tea or coffee and a biscuit for a donation of your choosing, and help raise money for veterans and serving armed forces personnel in our area.

Wath upon Dearne branch of the Royal British Legion will be holding their monthly coffee morning in the St. James tea room at the side of Wath Parish Church, from 10.00am to 12 noon on Saturday 25th April . It will incorporate our Poppy Appeal thank you where service certificates will be presented. This year young children who have helped out with parents etc will also be given a thank you certificate. Please come along and join us to help raise money to look after local veterans and their families.

Saturday 28th March saw the presentation to the branch of a cheque to the value of £5720 to the branch secretary Andy Jones from Wath upon Dearne Rugby Club. The money raised was from a charity auction organised by Thomas Backhouse and his parents Kyra and Lee, back in November. The charity night itself had auction lots of many lots including a pair of Beth Meads World Cup football boots, tickets and accommodation package for the Wales v England rugby match in Cardiff earlier this year as well as a small pork pie which raised £70 on the night.
The branch took the opportunity to present the club, players and members with a branch certificate of appreciation on the presentation night. Branch members also enjoying a fantastic social evening with the club enjoying a Queen tribute singer. He even got better as the night progressed.
The rugby club have requested that some of the donation to be spent on our third Navy themed remembrance bench at the War Memorial the remainder being donated to the branch funds to enable the branch to continue to support the hard work that the branch do in raising funds for the Royal British Legion and the charities beneficiaries in the Wath upon Dearne area.
A huge thank you to not only the players and supporters of Wath upon Dearne Rugby Club but also to Thomas and his parents for arranging the sourcing of auction lots and helping organise the night at the Rugby Club. 🫡🫡🫡⭐️
