🚨🌞 Time for ACTion!🌞🚨

Last night, we had the privilege of attending a powerful public meeting with the Cliff Villages Solar Action Group at the Venue in Navenby. Cllr Marianne Overton MBE and the team delivered a compelling message: this has to STOP!

If you use electricity, this issue affects YOU. We are all paying the price for extensive industrial development that we simply do NOT need. It’s time to shift our focus – we need solar panels on ROOFS, not on precious farmland!

A massive thank you to the Deputy Mayor of Greater Lincolnshire for showing her support. Together, we can champion sustainable solutions that truly benefit our communities!

🌟 Proud to Stand with Our Communities at Lincolnshire Independents 🌟

At Lincolnshire Independents, we take immense pride in supporting our diverse communities, and one shining example of this is our partnership with the Lincoln Bangladeshi Association.

With a rich history spanning over 60 years, the Association is a beacon of cultural and educational support, bringing together around 350 members. Under the dedicated leadership of its chairman, who has been at the helm for 35 years, the management committee—comprising 14 hardworking volunteers—works tirelessly to foster inclusivity and cohesion among all communities in Lincoln.

This remarkable group not only supports local residents but also extends a helping hand to university students from various nationalities. Whether it’s assisting newcomers with accommodation issues or providing emotional support during challenging times, they ensure no one feels alone in our community.

Women volunteers play a pivotal role, offering guidance to mothers and children, helping them find schools, and providing essential support during bereavements. The goal? To create a united community, resolve disputes, and take proactive measures to prevent family issues and ensure the wellbeing of our children.

Importantly, the Association operates with a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse, firmly believing in the importance of reporting any such behaviours to the authorities. They also encourage young people to seek employment, striving to engage them positively and prevent anti-social behaviour.

This voluntary group, driven solely by dedication and love for their community, goes above and beyond by running a food bank, ensuring that everyone has access to the resources they need.

Together, we can continue to build a brighter future for all. Thank you to the Lincoln Bangladeshi Association for your invaluable work and commitment to making our communities stronger! 💪🌍

Emergency services practicing in our area tomorrow, Monday 27th.

🚒 Tomorrow (Monday 27 July), Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue will be carrying out a water rescue training exercise at Lakeside Nature Reserve, Waddington between 7:00pm and 9:00pm.

This'll involve crews from Lincoln South Fire Station and Metheringham Fire Station, along with specialist water rescue equipment.

If you're around the area, you may notice emergency vehicles and activity on and around the water. Please don't be alarmed, this is a planned training exercise.

Exercises like these are another good reminder that open water can be much colder, deeper and dangerous than it looks on the surface. Please, stick to the professionally supervised swimming areas if you're wanting a dip this summer.

If you do find yourself in trouble in the water, remember to Float to Live:
💧Tilt your head back with your ears submerged.
💧Relax and try to control your breathing.
💧Move your hands to help you stay afloat.
💧Once the effects of cold water shock pass, call for help or swim to safety if you can.

If you come across someone in difficulty, don't attempt a water rescue yourself. Get them to float, call 999, and throw them something they can use to float or be pulled in with.
