WAENDEL WALK 2026 -The Album

Here is the fifth batch of photos I have taken of the lovely people taking part in The International Wændel Walk Weekend 2026. There are 335 photos in total and these are from Sunday's Walks.

WAENDEL WALK - Welcome to the team Anne!

International Wændel Walk Weekend 2026

The Waendel Walk is an amazing event, 1000’s of people who love it. Well, it's back for the 45th time starting today and over the weekend (8th, 9th and 10th May) and so are we with our bright orange Hoopoe bird, also called Waendel; and we have a new team member called Anne who is helping at her first event with other staff and volunteers. We are all very much looking forward to it!

During the weekend, do come and say hello to me or Anne and Waendel, he's a little bit cheeky, but then so are we! We are doing Wellingborough Town Council's social media again, so do share your stories with us, tell us where you come from and what walks you are doing this weekend. We will be taking pictures and sharing your experiences on Wellingborough Town Council's social media!

Over the past three years I have asked you to come and say hello to me and my bird Waendel, and you always do! Thank you for sharing your walks with me. To get you in Waendel Walk mode, here is a video of all my photos that I shared two years ago:

Just like last year, there are lots of walks to join in with, to explore Wellingborough and the glorious countryside and villages that surround our town. On the video there are over 180 of the photos that I took of everyone enjoying themselves and Wellingborough. They are almost in order to give a sense of how the weekend went. International Wændel Walk Weekend 2026

The Waendel Walk is always an amazing event, and the 1000’s of people who walk, love it. Well, it's back for the 45th time in three weeks and so am I with my bright orange Hoopoe bird, also called Waendel. I am very much looking forward to it...

Over the past three of years I have asked you to come and say hello to me and my bird Waendel, and you do! Thank you for sharing your walks with me. To get you in Waendel Walk mode, here is a video of all my photos that I shared last year:

QUEENSWAY PARK LITTER PICKED!

Wellingborough Eco Group & Wellie Wombles

Massive thank you to the 13 litter picking heroes who came out for this month’s Two Hour Tidy Up for 'Queensway Month of Action' on Queensway Park. We filled 22 bags with litter including a 15 year old crisp packet, gas canisters and various bits if wood.

We set up our Recycling Station on the grass on the park just off of Shelley Road from 9:30, for litter picking between 10 and 12. We are tidied up the park and the surrounding area.

This location was chosen because it’s Queensway Month of Action, an initiative by North Northamptonshire Council’s Stronger and Safer Communities Team; that has various activities running during April on the estate.

Thank you to Adam and David, Paul, Brenda and Kate, Eileen, Joy and Jonathan, David , Glenn, Maria, Craig and Allan, great job done by everyone. Thank you also to North Northamptonshire Council for agreeing to pick up the bags we litter picked. See you next month!
