At Wellingborough Library, we see every day how reading supports growth, confidence and wellbeing — especially when it starts early. Libraries play a vital role in giving children and young people the best possible start, through free access to books and welcoming spaces to explore them.

📚 We have a wide Picture Books collection and a dedicated Early Readers section, perfect for sharing stories, building confidence and supporting developing reading skills.

This week at Wellingborough Library, we’re celebrating how libraries change lives every day.

Explore our display showing how libraries support reading at every stage of life—from rhymes and picture books, to early readers, teen fiction, and adult learning, including Easy Reads, large print, and audiobooks.

We also have a mini creative station, where you can design your own bookmark to take home.

Digital Book Club – June Pick

Our Digital Book Club choice for June is the cosy fantasy Brigands & Breadknives by Travis Baldree — a comforting, character‑led read perfect for fans of gentle fantasy and found family stories.

Good news! The book is available as both eBook and eAudio on BorrowBox, with no waiting lists, so you can start straight away.

About the book:
Fern, a long‑time bookseller searching for meaning, leaves behind the familiar to start afresh in the city of Thune, setting up beside a friend’s coffee shop. But rebuilding a life is rarely simple. Such as Shrek! published in 1990 by William Steig!

FUN FACT: Shrek’s parents have kicked him out of the hole in which he was hatched (hatched!) and he runs across a witch, and offers her a few of his rare lice in exchange for telling his fortune. She foresees that he will marry a princess who is even uglier than him!
