Queensway Community Fun Day

If you live in or near Queensway in Wellingborough, come along and join us at Queensway Park on Thursday 2 April, 12 – 3pm for a relaxed afternoon of free activities and the chance to meet local services in your community.

There will be something for everyone, including:
👶 Toddlers’ soft play
🏹 Archery
🪓 Inflatable axe throwing
⛳ Mini golf
⚽ Inflatable football shootout
🎨 Crafts

It’s a great opportunity to spend some time in the park, meet neighbours and find out what support and activities are available locally.

Looking for a role that’s rewarding, flexible, and makes a real difference in your community? Join Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service as an on‑call firefighter.
As a member of our on‑call crew you could be from any walk of life — teachers, mechanics, gardeners, parents, business owners and more. No previous experience is needed; we’ll provide full training. What matters most is enthusiasm, a good level of fitness, and the ability to reach your local fire station within 8 minutes when your pager sounds.

As an on‑call firefighter, you’ll not just deal with fires and will respond to a variety of incidents and activities including:
🚒 Attending road collisions
🏊‍♂️ Water rescues
💧 Assist at floods
🐾 Rescue animals
🗣 Share safety advice at community events

We are a welcoming, inclusive Service and particularly keen to hear from people available during the day or those with flexible work or family commitments.

Large Animal Rescue !!!

Tonight the duty crew were called to a large animal trapped in a cattle grid.

Upon arrival it appeared that a very important Reindeer got its leg stuck!

The crews acted swiftly to release the animal using specialist equipment and was reunited with its friend's.

No pictures were allowed ,but this was the stations most important rescue yet!
We spoke with the owner, who was in a hurry .......
When suddenly he sprang to his sleigh, to his team, gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But we heard him exclaim, ‘as he flew out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!

The Raunds crew were presented with a commendation at the recent Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service awards ceremony for their part in a water rescue effort.

The crew members were recognised for their work in pulling an unresponsive man out of the water and administering CPR on the water banks prior to the arrival of paramedics - which formed part of a multi-agency response to a water rescue.

The commendation read: "Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is proud of each and every one of the Raunds on-call crew and the teamwork they displayed on the evening in question, where they showcased Northamptonshire Fire in a positive and professional manner."

The totals are in! 🚒

Our brilliant 'Light Up The Tower' fundraisers for Halloween and Bonfire night have helped to raise more than £1,000 for the Fire Fighters Charity.

Despite the weather, lots of you came along to one of our events in Corby or Raunds and dug deep for an incredible cause.

Raunds Fire Station raised £710 while Corby Fire Station raised £602.50 through tombolas, pumpkin competitions, raffles and refreshments .
