Drill night for Amber Watch this evening consisted of some Safe Working at Height training.
Crews took the opportunity to discuss each piece of equipment we carry, before going onto the drill yard to practice our work restraint procedures.

2 incidents today for Amber Watch

First came in at 15:02 as part of an assistance message from Red Watch Wellington who had requested to make pumps 3, and ISU x2.
This incident involved a large amount of grass alight in Ketley, that was only accessible by a footpath. Crews used an extended hose reel jet, beaters, and fogging units to deal with the fire.
Crews from Bridgnorth Fire Station, Tweedale Fire Station, and Red Watch Telford also in attendance, along with West Mercia Police.

Crews were then alerted to reports of smoke in the area in Shifnal. This was found to be linked to another on going incident.

A moment of appreciation for Fire Control. ❤️

Over the past several weeks, our Fire Control Operators have worked tirelessly through incredibly busy shifts, helping to mobilise and coordinate incidents from HQ in Shrewsbury.

Without these often-forgotten but vital members of our service, the response you see at the fire ground simply wouldn’t happen.

They send crews, liaise with partner agencies, mobilise additional assistance, ensure fire cover is maintained across the county, and complete all the necessary tasks to help keep our communities safe.

Thank you to each and every one of you. Your hard work, dedication and professionalism are appreciated by us all. 👏🚒

Amber Watch mobilised at 15:28 to assist colleagues from across the county at a large field fire in Longden, Shrewsbury. This incident involved approx 2 hectares of grassland, 200m of hedgerow, and 50% of a static caravan.

🚨 M54 WESTBOUND – UPDATE

The M54 westbound remains closed between Junction 3 and Junction 4 while emergency services continue to deal with the incident.

The public are advised to stay away from the area and use an alternative route where possible.
