We are very much looking forward to being a part of this years carnival, operational needs dependant. We wanted to take a quick moment to say due to the hose pipe ban still being in place our appliances aren’t as shiny and s***k and span as usual. When this is lifted they will be gleaming again. Look forward to seeing everyone later on.

Important info from Wellington Carnival ahead of the big day on Saturday!

What a month August was! Second month in a row hitting 64 shouts taking use to 312 call outs total so far.
This month has seen Liam and Charlie pass their HVP initial which was fortunate as they were needed to support back to back HVP deployments.
The dry weather meant more fires and more demand on the availability of the station. Supporting the deployments away as well as business as usual at home we were there.
Devon and Somerset Rescue Service want to thank all the employers that have continued to release firefighters from their places of work to respond as well as being understanding for night shouts and 48/72 hour deployments away.
During August the station had:

16 x Fires πŸ”₯
18 x Fires in the open πŸ”₯ 🌲
15 x Standby πŸ“Ÿ
5 x Alarms 🚨
3 x Gain entry πŸ”
1 x Smell of burning πŸ‘ƒ
1 x Hazardous Materials (Gas) ⚠️
5 x HVP and reliefs 🌊

With the rain having arrived there should be a reduction in grass fires however please remain vigilant and have precautions in place if you are planning a small fire. If you are planning a controlled burn please contact our control room on 03333990014.

Returning from any incident all our equipment is cleaned and checked ready to go again. HVP is no different. Cleaning and flushing through all of our hose takes time and considerable space. Despite two call outs through the day yesterday the crew managed to complete the task. Many thanks to Relyon Beds for allowing the use of their facilities once again for deploying hose and using their hydrants.
