Somerset Council seems more interested in promoting Refugee Week than fixing potholes, tackling SEND failures, supporting local taxpayers or getting its finances under control.
Residents expect the Council to focus on core services first. Somerset taxpayers deserve answers on how much this programme costs and why it is being prioritised during a period of financial pressure.
The Council's first responsibility should always be to the people of Somerset.
Across Somerset, communities are coming together to celebrate the theme of βCourageβ for (15β21 June), recognising the contributions, creativity and resilience of people seeking sanctuary.
Throughout the week, our Displaced People Service will be at venues across the county to talk about the support available to refugees and people seeking asylum in Somerset.
The first event takes place on Monday 15 June at Taunton Library. Come along if youβre interested in finding out more.
